TUCSON, Ariz. — Former USA Gymnastics doctor and convicted sexual predator Larry Nassar has been moved from a federal prison in Tucson, Arizona.According to ESPN, Nassar’s attorneys said in a court filing that Nassar was assaulted after being put into the general population at the Tucson Federal Correctional Complex.ESPN.com reports Nassar is an inmate at Oklahoma City’s Federal Transfer Center. It is unclear where he will be placed after being held in Oklahoma.  Nassar was sentenced up to 175 years in prison after more than 150 women said he sexually abused them. 603

Two gun shops in Southwest Florida are offering free gun training for teachers in response to the Parkland shooting.A free class at North Fort Myers Guns is designed to educate teachers about guns so they can protect themselves and others.A new state law allows schools districts the option to arm teachers under certain conditions.  They would be required to go through 144 hours of training and an evaluation process with law enforcement.Robert Lewis, the owner of North Fort Myers Guns, said the training he is offering will give teachers a jump start on how to use a gun.Lewis said it's a two-hour class where teachers can learn the basics and then they will go to a local gun range a few days later to practice firing a gun."My trainer takes you out to his private range in North Fort Myers. You will shoot any number of weapons you want. He makes it a true learning experience," Lewis said.The training is normally , but Lewis said he's offering it for free for teachers because he believes arming teachers will help protect kids in school.Two teachers have already signed up for Tuesday's training class. Lewis said depending on how many teachers sign up, he will hold a class at least once a month.Fowler Firearms in Ft. Myers, Florida is offering a similar service.After receiving a local donation, the manager John Dezendorf is offering the first five local certified teachers who sign up a brand new firearm and free platinum memberships.The membership includes free range time and gun rentals for a year.Dezendorf said whether the teachers are required to train through the state or county, his training services will give them the extra practice they need."The number one thing is to keep children safe and the only things to keep kids safe is to have people around them that are able to protect them. (KGTV) - Escondido Police shot and killed a man Saturday night steps away from the entrance to the Valley View Casino in North San Diego County, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.The shooting happened about 8 p.m. following a brief pursuit.Lt. Rich Williams with SDSO said Escondido Police had been called to a home in that area around 7:35 p.m. for a "disturbance call."A potential suspect got into a vehicle, leading officers to the casino's valet entrance.Casino visitor Jonathan King-Cretot said he was sitting near the front of the casino when he heard about four gunshots."Everyone screamed 'gun' and ran to the back of the casino," King-Cretot said. 725

Two of Mississippi's top elected Republicans proposed Wednesday that the Confederate battle emblem be replaced on the state flag with the words “In God We Trust," seeking a path toward unity in their state amid the backdrop of national protests over racial injustice.Mississippi has the only state flag that includes the Confederate battle emblem — a red field topped by a blue X with 13 white stars. White supremacists in the Legislature chose the design in 1894 as backlash for the political power African Americans gained during Reconstruction after the Civil War.Mississippi voters chose to keep the flag in a 2001 statewide election, but the design has remained contentious. Elsewhere in the country, debate has sharpened as Confederate monuments and statues recalling past slavery have been toppled by protesters or deliberately removed by authorities amid a groundswell against racial inequities.Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann and Attorney General Lynn Fitch issued separate statements Wednesday about the flag.
