Outdoor equipment retailer REI announced they are looking to sell their brand new corporate headquarters in Washington, as they embrace working from home and remote work options.“The dramatic events of 2020 have challenged us to reexamine and rethink every aspect of our business and many of the assumptions of the past. That includes where and how we work,” said REI President and CEO Eric Artz, in a video call with employees Wednesday. “As a result, our new experience of 'headquarters' will be very different than the one we imagined more than four years ago.”The company’s headquarters is being built in the Seattle area, in Bellevue, and is roughly 400,000 square feet and sits on eight acres of land. Corporate staff was planning on moving in to the newly-completed building this summer, according to the Seattle Times. REI transitioned to nearly 100 percent remote work in early March for corporate staff. Washington reported some of the earliest cases of coronavirus in the country.Retail stores closed in March across the country and recently reopened.The company admits the sale will also benefit them financially. Police are investigating after an underage girl was reportedly touched inappropriately at a Southwest Key facility in Phoenix. According to the Phoenix Police Department, 32-year-old Fernando Magaz Negrete, who works at the facility was seen by a juvenile witness touching a 14-year-old victim inappropriately on June 27.Court documents say a 16-year-old saw Negrete touching her roommate in their bedroom in June.The witness says she allegedly saw Negrete touching the girl's genitals and kissing her, court documents said. Additionally, Negrete was seen on surveillance video entering the girl's bedroom several times throughout the night.Negrete was contacted by police on Tuesday and made statements regarding his involvement. He was booked into jail on charges of molestation, sexual abuse, and aggravated assault. Arizona Representative Ruben Gallego?wrote a letter on Wednesday, asking for the Department of Health and Human Services' Inspector General to do an investigation of widespread reports of sexual abuse involving migrant children in federal custody. He also asked about their policies and whether they're following childcare regulations.The incidents include physical and sexual abuse suffered by a 6-year-old girl at a Southwest Key facility in Glendale, according to Gallego's office. Tucson police have also investigated multiple molestations at local Southwest Key locations. According to police reports obtained from ProPublica, police investigated molestation claims dating to 2014.Around the country, migrant children have reported abuse, neglect and assault at immigrant detention facilities. The Phoenix Southwest Key facility where Negrete worked is the same location First Lady Melania Trump visited in June.Southwest Key spokesperson Jeff Eller released the following statement on Wednesday: “When a child tells us of inappropriate behavior, we immediately call law enforcement and start an internal investigation as appropriate. That’s what happened in this case. Southwest Key always works with law enforcement to bring the full force of the law to bear when it is warranted.” 2211

Police say a St. Louis police officer who was shot in the head while responding to a shooting remains in critical condition. St. Louis Police Department spokeswoman Officer Michelle Woodling says a second officer who was shot in the leg was treated and released after the shooting around 6 p.m. Saturday in the South Grand neighborhood. The gunman barricaded himself inside a home and police negotiated with him for nearly 12 hours before the 43-year-old was taken into custody Sunday morning. OTAY MESA, Calif., (KGTV) — Thursday's Caliente Fire turned into a massive blaze at a pallet yard in Otay Mesa, a fire that has burned nearly 500 acres.The business owners returned to the yard Friday to find devastation, as the blaze remained 75% contained.This is not a dream. The life that Francisco and Carolina Ramirez built is now gone. "You're hoping that it will you will wake up in the morning and go back as usual. It was an effort to help Mother Nature. But on Thursday, it was Mother Nature that destroyed their business, Atlas Wood Pallets. "It's like we've been into a war. And then after that, we only see ashes," Ramirez said. Ramirez says his yard was a small city made of 60,000 pallets. But 99.9% of his inventory is now ash. The 8-foot loading dock is now a swimming pool of dirt. Zimmerman suffers from Alzheimer's disease and high blood pressure.He reportedly did not take his blood pressure medication Sunday morning and is not believed to have the medicine with him. He also doesn't own a cell phone.Zimmerman as last seen driving towards Highway 79 from Viejas Boulevard at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday. He was driving a gold 2006 Toyota Tundra single cab with the CA license plate 8E41946. The truck has a black toolbox in the bed.He is described as a white male, 6-feet 2-inches tall, 190 pounds, and has white hair and blue eyes.
