Barry could strengthen to a hurricane, but it’s not the high winds that have residents and officials worried, says Benjamin Scott, with the National Weather Service. “It's the large amount of water,” he explains. “Take a look behind me. This is the Mississippi River, already strained from a season of flooding."Scott says the number one threat will be the heavy flooding and rainfall. The Mississippi River this time of year is usually at 6 to 8 feet, but right now, the river sits at 16 feet. The forecast is calling for 15 inches of rain in the city and possibly 25 inches elsewhere. Tourists in New Orleans are taking the warnings from officials seriously. (CNN) -- An Oregon woman is under arrest after police say she shared bean dip with an extra ingredient: methamphetamine.Cassandra Medina-Hernandez gave some of the meth-laced dip to a fellow employee in the deli of the grocery store where she worked, according to a news release from the Marion County Sheriff's office.The co-worker began feeling ill, went to the hospital, and was told the dip might have been contaminated with meth, deputies said. A car plowed into bicyclists and pedestrians on a street in New Orleans, killing two people and injuring six others as the city celebrates Mardi Gras festivities.A majority of the people struck Saturday night were on bicycles, but it's unclear how many, Police Chief Shaun Ferguson said. Of the people injured, three are in critical condition.The driver, Tashonty Toney, 32, was arrested and faces several charges, including two counts of vehicular homicide, hit and run, and reckless operation, the New Orleans Police Department tweeted.Toney was not injured, and had originally fled the scene, Ferguson said"We were able to apprehend the subject so quickly because citizens stopped this individual, because they thought they were helping someone who had just been involved in a one-car accident," Ferguson said.Officers determined that the accident scene spanned several blocks of Esplanade Avenue.
