(KGTV) -- A Hazmat crew was called to a propane leak at a home in Chula Vista Tuesday night. Crews at the scene tell 10News that a food truck parked in the driveway of the home was leaking propane. Initially the plan was to jack the truck so crews could access, but they were unable to do so. They're now planning to safely light off the propane until it burns off. At this time one home has been evacuated, others may be evacuated soon. *This is a developing story. 10News will continue to update as details become available.  595

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A survey of Chula Vista residents and businesses show the economic toll the pandemic has taken on the city.The results of the July survey were recently released. It polled 576 businesses and nearly 800 residents.It showed nearly all businesses have seen a decline in revenue during the pandemic. As of the end of July, only half of businesses surveyed were fully open. About half of the businesses in the report also decrease their workforce. It also said 60 percent of unemployment in the city is due to COVID-19 and many have struggled to find new job opportunities.60 percent of businesses surveyed said given current projections, they anticipate closing within six months.Alita Fernandez is the director of Play City in Eastlake, an indoor playground for children. She said her workplace has been closed since March.“On the business side, it’s been very tough, but also on the personal side,” Fernandez said.She is not surprised by the grim numbers reported in the survey.“There are expenses that need to be covered… money comes in, the same thing goes out,” Fernandez said. Except now, there is no money coming in for many businesses.Fernandez and 15 other employees have lost their jobs until the planned reopening in January 2021. Many business owners are frustrated, feeling as though they are being unfairly punished.Open for now, but not for long. Each time she has lost income, staff, and hope."Obviously, we are not talking about profit because that's been long gone since March," Neff sighed. "We're just talking about survival."Nail salons are just one of the many industries that are being forced to shut down completely starting 11:59 pm Sunday. A sign on the door said in part: "We have enjoyed serving this community and we appreciate all of the support you have shown us over the last 5 months. We will miss seeing your smiling faces and we will especially miss those of you who graced us with your presence almost every day."
