WASHINGTON, July 10 (Xinhua) -- The fifth round of the China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) started here on Wednesday, with the two sides expected to hold a series of talks on a wide range of political, security, economic and financial issues.
China and Japan are close neighbors, and developing a long-term, stable and friendly relationship serves the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples, and benefits the peace, stability and development of Asia and the world, Hong said.
The Chinese foreign minister said he is confident that both China and its ASEAN neighbors shall be able to safeguard the peace and stability in the South China Sea.
Yu stressed that economic and trade cooperation with Taiwan played a significant role in the progress of cross-Strait relations, and the mainland should explore more effective channels to expand the scope for cooperation and improve investment-related policies and regulations.
The two sides exchanged views on the China-U.S. relationship as well as international and regional issues of common concern, said the release.
