“I have never in 23 years ran across this!”That's how assistant Bristow, Oklahoma police chief Kendra Raney described what happened in the ladies restroom of Walmart on Tuesday. "A Walmart employee requesting an ambulance for a lady that was inside the women's bathroom either having a miscarriage, or having a baby," Raney said. That 911 call triggered emergency responses from multiple agencies, including police, fire and the Creek County Ambulance service. It sent paramedics racing to help.Raney described what first responders found, stating, "I understand the Walmart employees performed lifesaving measures and when the ambulance got there, they transported them both to a Tulsa Hospital."The Bristow Fire Department report shows it paramedics worked on the baby girl for 17 minutes. They gave her oxygen and cleared her airways. Finally, she took breaths on her own and made a weak cry.Why was the baby was born in the Walmart restroom? "Mom stated that she started having contractions about 2:30 in the morning that morning and she didn't think that they warranted a visit to the hospital," Raney explains. "She got up later, got her kids off to school and felt that she needed to use the restroom, so she stopped at the Walmart which the middle school's right across from the Walmart."Raney says the mother felt some pressure and then the baby came out. We asked how the mother and baby girl are doing now. Then she added, "Both are gonna make it."Raney said, the incident is still under investigation. Bristow police are not releasing the mother's name, or which hospital the mother and baby were taken to in Tulsa. A bride from New Orleans went all out for her beach wedding -- enlisting 34 of her closest friends and family to join her as bridesmaids on her big day.Casme Carter tied the knot June 2 in Destin, Florida, with her six sisters and 28 friends by her side.She says that she planned on having 50 ladies but some couldn't make it because of family reasons and an Army deployment.But why -- and how -- so many? Carter says she has a lot of friends from mentoring and participating in women's empowerment groups."I wanted them all to experience the love that they've seen that I've been praying for and wanting. I wanted them to witness it first hand," Carter says.When she told her now-husband, Gary Carter, of her plans, he didn't think she was serious at first, she says."He thought I was joking but then he was like, 'If anybody can do it.' He knows how I am and how many women are around me," Carter said.Carter says her husband's next concern was whether he could match that many women with men. "You don't expect me to have that many groomsmen," she recalls him saying.The bridesmaids were even more surprised than her husband because Carter didn't tell them that there would be 34 women in her wedding.She says she broke them up into a few different group chats to discuss details and told them just to get neutral beach dresses, and bring some bathing suits and khakis.The bride says the surprise went off without a hitch. "When they saw everybody they were like, 'Oh my God, Casme. This is so awesome!'"She was just happy that everyone was able to make it to her wedding. "Their time and their presence was a gift to me, just being there."In addition to holding a massive wedding, Carter says the couple decided to get married only three months after getting engaged.She says she always dreamed of a beach wedding and after being a wedding singer in Destin for at least 50 weddings she knew it was the place she wanted to get married.Carter also had a Pinterest board for her wedding that she had worked on for several years before even meeting her husband so she finalized it printed it out, and went to work to pull the massive event together in a short time.Overall, Carter says the day was perfect and she wouldn't have changed a thing."Everything about this wedding was different," Carter says. A grower in California has set the state record in the state by growing a pumpkin that weighs 2,175 pounds, according to officials from the Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh Off. The pumpkin was one of nine that weighed in over 1,000 pounds this week at the event in California. The pumpkin was also one of two that weighed more than 1 ton. The grower was Leonardo Urena of Napa. Urena cashed in a ,225 prize, and his pumpkin will be featured at this weekend's Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival. This year's pumpkin tops last year's heaviest pumpkin, which weighed 2,170 pounds. The pumpkin nearly topped a gourd grown in New England, which weighed in at 2,294 pounds last week. 708

A growing number of tech companies are making plans for their employees to keep working from home even after the pandemic.It's a move that could have an impact across the country for current employees and job seekers, beyond the typical tech hubs.“The tech sector is over-concentrated in a very short list of places – Seattle, the (San Francisco) Bay area, Boston – in a way that really is harmful to the tech industry but also harmful for the rest of the country,” said Mark Muro with the Metropolitan Policy Program – Brookings Institution. Muro has found that most regional economies in the United States are losing ground in tech and not seeing the kind of growth they've been promised. This comes while big tech hubs are dealing with more traffic and the increased cost of living.Muro says what's happening with tech jobs now amid the pandemic is a win for both the tech hubs and America’s heartland.“A lot of people complain that if they had their druthers, if they could get the same job, they'd move to their hometown or move to name it attractive heartland city,” said Muro. Facebook has said it will let many employees work from home permanently. It also plans to open up remote hiring for some roles and set up new hubs to support remote workers in Atlanta, Dallas and Denver.Twitter also says many of its employees will be allowed to work from home permanently.
