(KGTV) - The Flower Hill Promenade in Del Mar is helping restaurants in its parking spaces by creating extra outdoor dining space.Milton's, a restaurant and deli in the shopping center, opened up a new outdoor area by covering up parking spaces with turf and tents and setting tables and chairs. That area opened up this week after new health orders forced restaurants to close their indoor dining areas due to rising coronavirus case numbers.Owner Barry Robbins says that they are also working on building a lounge area with a big-screen TV. With fans not allowed at the Del Mar horse track this season due to the pandemic, Robbins is hopeful their proximity to the race track will attract horse racing fans."We want to create a lounge, and put up a tv, and show the races there," he said. "Then you'll have more a night time venue with music, which we've never done before."Rose Javin, the General Manager at Flower Hill Shopping Center, says the outdoor dining spaces are an investment in their clients. Another restaurant in the Flower Hill Promenade, Cucina Enoteca, also recently rolled out turf and put up tents to create a comfortable outdoor setting for their customers. They are currently working with a third client to see if they can help them."The shopping center has put up the money to do all this and create this area for the tenant," Javin said. "We're a family here, and we want our tenants to thrive and survive."Robbins says they were hard-hit by the pandemic. When restaurants were allowed to reopen, Robbins says they invested thousands of dollars in putting up glass dividers inside the restaurant. Still, they were only open for two weeks before they had to shut their indoor area again.Robbins says having the outdoor space is a relief."It means sleeping at night. I was so scared," he said. DENVER, Colo. — A Colorado man is trying to find the silver lining in the wildfires by turning his photography into an opportunity to help those affected most.Jeremy Janus was driving back to Denver from Rocky Mountain National Arsenal Friday and he couldn’t believe his eyes.“I saw the smoke plume coming toward Denver and as much as it pained me I knew I had to take photos of it,” Janus said.Janus captured four photos of the smokey skies enhancing the beauty of the sunset.“This photo is called the “Nature That Binds Us,” Janus said. “While I knew these trees were going to be fine, far off in the distance there is also a lot of wildlife and nature that’s also getting destroyed.”He got into photography four years ago to heal a battle with depression and anxiety. Now he runs his own business called Jeremy Janus Photography.“Because of my background where I came from in photography, being a light in the darkness, how do you make positive situations out of bad ones?” Janus said. “I don’t want to profit off of devastation.”Janus has agreed to sell the photos and donate the money to Denver7 Gives.Denver7 is working with United Way of Larimer County and Community Foundation of Boulder County to ensure every dollar raised helps Coloradans who have lost so much.“My heart broke just seeing this because it made me think about all the people affected by it, all the wildlife, wilderness,” he said.The photos start at . (CNS) -- Racing is set to resume at Del Mar Friday after three racing dates were canceled because 15 jockeys tested positive for the coronavirus.The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club responded to the positive tests that wiped out racing from July 17-19 by instituting new travel restrictions to include only permitting jockeys based in California to ride and prohibiting all jockeys who leave the track to ride elsewhere from returning to Del Mar for the remainder of the summer racing season.Del Mar also re-configured and expanded its jockeys' quarters, including moving some of the functions that normally take place in the jockeys' room to an adjacent area.Racing will be held Monday to make up for one of the canceled days. The other two lost days will be made up later in the season, on dates to be determined, said Tom Robbins, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club executive vice president for racing.Many of the races that had been scheduled for last weekend have been shifted to this weekend. DENVER, Colo. — Colorado prosecutors have filed attempted murder charges against a pickup driver who they believe intentionally veered across several lanes of traffic and struck a motorcyclist.Investigators from the Colorado State Patrol say the victim, Quentin Quidley, his brother, James, and several friends were traveling south on I-25 near Castle Rock when the incident happened back on Aug. 16.Quidley told KMGH they were traveling south through Colorado after a trip to Sturgis, South Dakota. The pickup driver wouldn't let them pass."There was nothing in front of him, (but) he wasn't going to yield," Quidley said. "He floored on the gas and tried to clip us then."The riders eventually got in front of the pickup driver, but he caught up with them.Dash cam video from Gil Steiner shows the pickup veering across several lanes of traffic, then striking Quidley's motorcycle."As I started to tumble, the first thing (I thought) was, here comes that ground and it's going to hurt," he said.Quidley recounted the traumatic encounter with the Ford F-250 during a Webex interview set up by his attorney."I was trying to pull it out of a death wobble," he said.Investigators told KMGH they didn't buy the pickup driver's claim that he simply made an unsafe lane change."We feel very strongly that we can prove in court that this was an intentional act," said Major J.P. Burt, of the Colorado State Patrol.Injury Attorney Brian Calandra, at Ramos Law, said he hopes the crash wasn't intentional."We hope there aren't people out there on Colorado streets intentionally trying to take out folks on motorcycles," Calandra said.The pickup driver, 38-year-old Alberto Mota, was charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder with extreme indifference, vehicular assault, four counts of felony menacing, violation of bail bond condition, child abuse, four counts of reckless endangerment, and driving under restraint. 1975

DETROIT — Tyesha Dukes says her baby boy, Julies, was born in December 2017 but lost him hours later. She says she trusted Perry Funeral Home to bury her son, but never received a death certificate stating where he had been buried.Dukes says once news hit of 11 fetuses being found inside the ceiling of Cantrell Funeral Home, she got worried and called Perry Funeral Home. She placed the call Thursday, the day before the police raid occurred that turned up 63 infant remains and fetuses improperly stored inside the funeral home. “I had called just to see," Dukes said. "If it’s baby bodies at this funeral home, let me call and see if my baby, you know, (is) buried or not." She says that she was assured her baby was buried at Gethsemane Cemetery off of Gratiot in Detroit, but now she is not so sure. “This funeral home is under investigation." Dukes said. "How do I know my baby is not in there thrown to the side?" Detroit Police say they found 37 fetuses and infants inside three unrefrigerated cardboard boxes, and another 27 from a freezer inside Perry Funeral Home Friday afternoon. According to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affair’s Database, and Perry Funeral Home's website, the owner of Perry Funeral Home is James Vermeulen. Vermeulen is also the owner of Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral homes in Plymouth and Westland. WXYZ received a statement from Vermeulen’s lawyer, Collins Einhorn Farrell law firm based out of Southfield. It states:  1542
