SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- At least six people were injured Thursday morning after a head-on crash in Dulzura.According to Cal Fire San Diego, the crash happened on state Route 94 near Otay Truck Trail at around 7:30 a.m.The circumstances surrounding the crash are still unclear, but Cal Fire says one person was taken to the hospital with major injuries, and five others had minor injuries.The condition of the person rushed to the hospital is unclear at this time. 468

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Awaken Church continues to hold indoors services, despite orders from San Diego County to close all indoor religious services due to COVID-19 restrictions.According to the San Diego County website, three of the Awaken Church locations have received cease and desist orders. The location at 7620 Balboa Ave. received a cease and desist order July 17, 2020; the Carlsbad location received one Nov. 16, 2020; and the Chula Vista location received one Nov. 19, 2020.RELATED: Churches pushing back against purple tier restrictionsIn addition, San Diego County put out a notice that anyone who went to the location at 7620 Balboa Ave. between Nov. 15 and Nov. 22 needs to quarantine for two weeks because of a community outbreak. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Crews battled flames from two house fires that sprang up overnight in San Diego.The first fire was reported in City Heights at about 3 a.m. Crews responded to a home in the 4000 block of 42nd Street engulfed in flames.One person made it out of the home safely and surrounding neighbors were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. Neighbors say the homeowner was not inside when the fire broke out. It took about 30 minutes to knock the fire down and no injuries were reported.San Diego Fire Department said Metro Arson Strike Team determined the fire was intentionally set. The blaze caused an estimated 0,000 in total damages.No arrests have been made.Fire crews also doused a fire in Encanto at an abandoned home near 66th St. and Madera St. The home's doors and windows were boarded up and transients frequented the property, according to fire crews.No injuries were reported in that fire as well. 955

The former presidential candidate stood alongside protestors at The Westin Hotel on Friday. “Nobody wants to do this. We would all like to work right now,” says employee Arturo Ramirez.Ramirez has been working at The Westin Hotel since February. With the high cost of living in San Diego, Ramirez says its sometimes hard to pay the bills.“My mother and I, we work at the same hotel. We’re struggling to pay ,100 in rent," Ramirez says.Bernie Sanders took the stage to show his support to workers during his visit to San Diego.“We’re saying to Marriott who owns Westin, we’re saying to every corporation in this country who make billions of dollars in profit, pay your workers a living wage," Sanders said to a crowd of protesters.Employees are asking for a raise of at least an hour and a chance to save for their retirement.“It’s a billion dollar company that needs to pay the workers a living wage so they can live in the city of San Diego," says Bridgett Browning, President of Unite Here Union. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — California public health officials say the Southern California region has run out of ICU bed capacity.The region, which includes San Diego and 10 other counties, hit 0% capacity, as the state reported 52,200 more coronavirus cases on Thursday. California officials say regional ICU capacity is calculated based on the total number of adult ICU beds minus neonatal and pediatric ICU beds. Adult ICU capacity includes staffed ICU beds and ICU surge beds.San Diego County said Thursday that it was currently at 16% ICU capacity after adding 2,604 new virus cases. There are 295 ICU cases in the county out of 1,186 hospitalizations.
