Chicago police announced at a Monday morning news conference that 66 people were shot, 12 of them fatally, between Friday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 11:59 p.m.Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie T. However, he said there have been no arrests made in connection with any violence from this weekend.Experts say crime tends to pick up during the hot summer months, but Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel dismissed that."You can talk about the weather, but the weather didn't pull the trigger," he said. "You can talk about jobs, and they count, but in parts of the city where there aren't jobs, people did not pull the trigger."There are values. There are too many guns on the street, too many people with criminal records on the street, and there is a shortage of values about what is right and what is wrong," he added.Of the wounded who reported an age, the oldest was 62 and the youngest 11, police records show.Before the particularly violent Sunday, there were six shootings, none fatal, on Friday, and 15 shootings, one fatal, on Saturday. CHICAGO, Ill. – A star of the Netflix show “Cheer” has been arrested and charged with producing child pornography.The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois said in a press release Thursday that Jeremiah (Jerry) Harris used a social media app to repeatedly entice an underage boy to produce and send sexually explicit videos and photos of himself.A criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago shows the victim informed Harris that he was 13 years old during their initial encounter online.Harris, a Naperville resident, was taken into custody Thursday morning on the one count of producing child pornography, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.Production of child porn is punishable by a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years.Harris is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Thursday afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge M. CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) — Thursday's heavy storm caused significant damage in the North County Plaza shopping center in Carlsbad, particularly to Homeroom Hourly Child Care. Homeroom's owner tells 10News that current estimates are it will take six weeks to repair all the damage to the interior."I was pretty pessimistic last night," assistant director Erin Devries told 10News. Shorty after, tiles began falling from the ceiling, along with a deluge of rain. Out of fear of danger from a soaked electrical system, the teachers turned out the lights, then evacuated the children from the building, seeking shelter in the Orange Theory gym next door. CAMPO (CNS) - At least one person was fatally injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday evening on Route 94 in Campo, according to the California Highway Patrol.The crash took place on Route 94 -- Campo Road -- at the intersection with Sheridan Road about 7 p.m., the CHP reported.The person's name was withheld pending family notification. There's no word yet on the gender or age of the victim. No information on other injuries was immediately available.At least one dog was also injured in the crash, the CHP said. Three others were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries.Campo Road was temporarily closed at 9:55 p.m. for the crash and death investigation. The roadway was reopened about 11:05 p.m., the CHP said.Campo is a small town in the southeastern portion of San Diego County. 799
