(KGTV) -- The NCAA Tournament ended Thursday night for the Aztecs after the team lost to the Houston Cougars 67-65. Rob Gray drove for a wind-milling layup that just trickled over the rim with 1.1 seconds left, and Trey Kell's off-balance 3-pointer at the buzzer was no good, giving No. 6 seed Houston a 67-65 victory over San Diego State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday night.Devin Watson had just tied the game for the Aztecs with a turnaround 3-pointer, his second in a matter of seconds, when Gray dribbled up floor with 29 seconds left.He allowed the clock to tick down to six seconds before crossing over, scooting under two defenders and scooping up his shot.The layup gave him 39 points and the Cougars (27-7) their first tournament win since 1984.Devin Davis and Corey Davis Jr. added nine points apiece for Houston, which lost two players to fouls down the stretch, and struggled to contain the Aztecs' big front line. 977

While fans are not allowed to attend any MLB games in the shortened 2020 season, the Oakland Athletics came up with a brilliant way to "bring in" fans.The team unveiled its "Coliseum Cutouts" program, where A's fans will get a chance to display the cardboard cutout of themselves during games.The team's staff will try to fill the stands with the cutouts. Prices range from to 9 for each cutout. If a cutout in the program's foul ball zone gets hit with a foul ball, the A's will send the ball to that fan.Proceeds from this program will benefit the team's charity partners.With every purchase of a cutout, the fan will also receive two complimentary tickets to the A's first exhibition game at the Coliseum during the 2021 season. WEST SENECA, N.Y. —From the running water to the statues and perfectly trimmed plants, Pam and Dave Hubert's backyard in West Seneca, New York, is a place the couple can sit back and relax.But last fall was anything but relaxing for the family."I had a lump in the right side of my throat that I've had many times from having sinus infections," explained Dave. "I went to the doctor and he said something's not right this time.""His words were: you have cancer," Dave said. "You're going to go through hell, but you're going to survive."Dave was diagnosed with throat cancer at the end of August. He had 35 radiation treatments and two rounds of chemo. After months of grueling recovery, he was cancer-free, and could finally sleep and eat again.Pam was by his side throughout it all."We said there's got to be other purpose here than us being sick," Dave said. "I didn't get sick to get sick. I got sick cause someone else needs us to help them get through this."As fall approached this year, Dave had one question for his wife."He said to me, 'do you plan on decorating the yard for the fall?'" Pam recalled. "And I said 'yeah I usually do.' And he said, 'I was hoping you would say that, because last year I just couldn't, I was too tired, too weak I just didn't enjoy it the way I wanted to enjoy it.'""I tried to be out here doing some work," Dave said. "But I was just so tired. I was just so exhausted from the treatment."Pam decided this year needed to be different, so she put out a call on Facebook to people she knew, and to strangers."If there's somebody you know battling cancer or survived cancer, or may have lost a battle to cancer, I would like to honor them," Pam said. "And if you have a pumpkin I'm happy to put it in my yard and we'll display it."That's when the pumpkins started showing up. WEST PALM BEACH, Florida — West Palm Beach says the number of police cars that had to be pulled off the streets due to engine failure has risen to 49.City Administrator Jeff Green said at this point they believe a tainted fuel shipment in the middle of March is to blame. All of those cars had traces of biodiesel in their tanks, which are meant for unleaded only.West Palm Beach Police Public Information Officer David Lefont said it is not impacting public safety since the agency is supplementing with rental cars.“We have captains driving around in minivans,” Lefont said.Seventeen patrol cars have gotten new engines and are back in service.The other affected cars are non-marked cars.Green said Miami-Dade County police reported they had to pull 120 cars with the same issue.In West Palm Beach the cars affected are all Ford, which is why the automaker is investigating the case as well.But Green said at this point they believe it was the fuel shipment. With Halloween less than two weeks away, many parents are trying to make plans to celebrate now. But with COVID-19 still a concern, families all over the United States are wondering if it's safe to go trick-or-treating this year.WFTS took those concerns to medical experts with Baycare Health, who say with some added safety precautions, your family can still take part in trick-or-treating, handing out candy and other Halloween festivities.If you plan to welcome trick-or-treaters to your home, instead of handing out candy at your door, consider arranging individual treat bags on a table in your driveway or near the front door for a contact-less hand-off."Instead of having it all in a bucket, where everyone is putting their hands in, lay out a row so that when they come up, they can just grab one and go," said Michelle Sterling, the children's wellness and safety specialist with St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. "Then, you can refill that row after the little trick-or-treaters leave your house."When it comes to going home-to-home for trick-or-treating, Sterling said be sure to wear a mask when around people who are not part of your household.Also, doctors say Halloween costume masks are not a substitute for a cloth mask unless it is made of two or more layers of fabric and fits snugly around your mouth and nose.Additionally, medical experts say wearing a costume mask over a protective cloth mask can make it difficult to breathe. Instead, they say to consider using a Halloween-themed cloth mask.Doctors also recommend keeping a physical distance of at least six feet from people who are not in your immediate household, using hand sanitizer often, and waiting to eat candy until you are at home and can wash your hands with soap and water.Keep in mind though, updated safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention discourages families from taking part in traditional trick-or-treating.Sterling is also offering the following tricks for keeping Halloween a treat for your family during the pandemic:Go all out with the Halloween decorations. Keep it budget-friendly by having your kids help create decorations to hang from windows, trees, mailbox, etc. You could even turn one of your bedrooms into a kid-friendly haunted house.Decorate doors inside your house and let your little ones go trick-or-treating indoors. Get the whole family involved with mom or dad behind one door, an older sibling behind another and grandparents behind yet another door.Set up a Halloween-themed scavenger hunt in and around your house. Provide clues and leave treats along the route.Turn up your spooky Halloween music and have a dance party with your children.
