SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego donut shop is taking a classic Easter treat to a whole new level.The Donut Bar in downtown San Diego is stuffing Cadbury eggs inside donuts. The popular donuts usually sell out around noon. The Donut Bar has been opened since 2013 and, according to the bar’s website, more locations are coming to Chula Vista, University Town Center and Temecula.RELATED: Great bakeries in San Diego CountyThe Donut Bar has more than 30 creations on a daily basis. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A measure that would increase property tax bills to pay for thousands of affordable housing units has moved closer to the November ballot.On Tuesday, the San Diego City Council voted 6-3 to support what's called a resolution of necessity about the measure. It directed city staff to prepare language for the council to approve for the November ballot.The San Diego Housing Federation, which brought the measure forward, says it would pave the way for an estimated 7,500 affordable housing units. Of those, 5,000 would be for the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless, while another 2,500 would be for low-wage working families. "Our hearts say we need to do this and frankly it is cheaper to put people in housing than it is to flood them with emergency services."The proposal would raise property taxes on average 19 cents per ,000 of assessed value, taking a gradual approach over about seven years. Once it is fully in place, an owner of a median priced home of 0,000 would pay an average of about 0 per year. The measure would require a two-thirds majority vote. James Douglas, a downtown resident, said something needs to be done to help the homeless, but he lamented his own high rent. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man suffered serious injuries after a scooter crash on the Mission Beach boardwalk late Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. near Ocean Front Walk and San Luis Obispo Place. Authorities say a 55-year-old man on a bicycle and a 27-year-old man on a scooter collided on the boardwalk."His bike was upside and he was just laying there," said Nicole Ryujin, who saw the aftermath. "He wasn’t moving and at first I was like, 'is this guy okay?'" Police say the 55-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but not life threatening. According to police, the 27-year-old didn't suffer any injuries. Investigators say the scooter rider was headed north on the boardwalk, and the biker was headed south, when they collided. At this time, it's unclear exactly what led to the crash. Traffic investigators questioned the scooter rider on scene. Investigators say there is no criminal investigation at this time. 987

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A new report shows where San Diego ranks among best and worst cities in California to retire. According to WalletHub, San Diego takes the 47th spot on the list among 257 other cities throughout California. America’s Finest City ranked 51st for quality of life, 139th for health care and 4th in the activities ranking. San Diego did take the top spot in California in several categories. According to WalletHub, San Diego has the most museums and fishing facilities per capita when compared with other California cities. San Diego did, however, rank quite a bit lower when it comes to adjusted cost of living and percentage of population aged 65 and older, placing 149th and 145th respectively. According to the WalletHub ranking, the best cities in California for retirement are Los Gatos, Los Altos and Walnut Creek. The lowest-ranking cities are Modesto, San Bernardino and Stockton. To compile the list WalletHub compared more than 250 cities across 28 key metrics. 997

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A heartbroken mother is making a plea for tips after a burglar makes off with a computer with with "priceless memories."An upset Sheila Conway shared her story with 10News, weeks after she returned to her home on Norwich Street to a break-in. It appears the burglar opened an unlocked outer door, before somehow opening another door. Taken were Conway's purse and her silver HP laptop. Inside that computer: A lifetime of memories of her only child, her son Tyler Peckham. Tyler, diagnosed with schizophrenia, took his own life in 2014 at the age of 26. Just off the kitchen is a wall memorial dedicated to Tyler, filled with photos showing Tyler growing up into adulthood. Conway says the computer contained hundreds of photos, most of them not backed up. “Cried a lot and just furious. It wasn’t a laptop, but memories that were stolen … everything from baby pictures to adult photos that I’ll never see again,” said Conway.
