Border Patrol responded and agents were able to break up the crowd on the Mexico side of the border. Following the incident, the agency said it is willing to add agents in the area as needed. According to Border Patrol officials, about 167 arrests are made per day at the San Diego sector of the border. During that incident, several people successfully made it over the fence and onto the beach on the U.S. side of the border before being apprehended by agents. A total of 24 people, 18 men and six women, were taken into custody. According to Border Patrol, 23 of the people who crossed the border illegally were from Honduras while the 24th person was from Guatemala. 1036

The park’s seasonal nighttime show, Electric Ocean, will continue through September 2, along with SeaWorld’s summer concert series. The live events are free with park admission. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Some business owners in downtown San Diego claim a new bike lane on 6th Avenue is hurting their ability to operate.“We’re having a lot of issues with loading,” said Bon Pinak, the general manager of Thosakan, a Thai restaurant on 6th Ave.The new protected bike lane was placed along the curb. All the parking on the east side of the street was removed, as well as most of the loading zone.Only two spots were left for vehicles. Posted signs say they can be used for 20 minutes for commercial loading until 6 p.m. After 6 p.m., it turns into three-minute passenger loading.“I got a ticket three days ago,” said Remzi Kaval, owner of the Coffee and Talk cafe on 6th.He said he was unloading some supplies in one of the spaces, but it was after 6 p.m.“We don’t have any space where we can park.”The new protected bike lanes have been installed in various places across the City recently. Both as an attempt to make biking safer but also to meet the City’s climate action goals.“It’s great. I don’t have to worry about getting hit,” said Jordan Green, who bikes through the area regularly.“Protected bikeways provide a safe, designated space for cyclists, keeping sidewalks clear for pedestrians,” wrote a spokesperson for the City of San Diego.As for the particular block between B Street and C Street, the City did not indicate any interest in changing the layout.“A small number of curbside loading zone spaces were removed from this block on the east side of 6th Avenue, but there are yellow loading zones available farther up and down 6th Avenue and on adjacent streets. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego’s boating community is stepping up to help a family who lost their floating home in a fire. The boat, Both/And World, caught fire while docked at the Shelter Island Marina Saturday just before 3 p.m. "I was just merely walking off of the boat and saw the smoke, thought it was a barbecue then the kids started screaming on the dock and saw the black smoke and knew it was time to react,” said witness Charlie Colson. The man who lived on the boat with his family grabbed a small hose and tried to put out the flames, Colson said. People on shore grabbed a larger hose and had most of the flames knocked down by the time firefighters arrived. Colson said the family, which includes the man’s wife and 6-year-old son with special needs, had just moved on to the boat last week. The only salvageable items were the boy’s stuffed Donald Duck and his iPad. According to Colson, the flames were sparked by a lithium battery on a charger. Investigators have yet to release the official cause of the fire. “It’s gonna change their plans for a little but it’ll all work out,” said Colson. “The lucky part: no one was hurt; no other boats damaged; family’s okay, other than being rattled.” Colson believes the boat is a total loss.
