You can find courses for just about any topic on platforms like Coursera and Udemy.“Then, put that bullet point on your resume. Even if they don’t have a formal certification process, that’s still a big deal to say you invested that amount of time in yourself,” says Julie Kratz, founder of Next Pivot Point, a leadership training organization.This step can be even more impactful if you’ve had a gap in work experience during the pandemic.Give yourself creditMaybe you don’t meet 100 percent of the listed requirements for a position or you’re considering a new career path. Parul Patel has placed a sign in his store asking customers to stop committing this act. He owns a BP gas station and On the Fly convenience store in Jacksonville, which are within walking distance of two labs. One lab said it does not collect drug test samples. He said that people walk in off the street, microwave their containers and then leave. Warming urine from a person who has not taken drugs is seen by some as a way to pass a drug test. KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The numbers are in: more Americans will travel this Thanksgiving than the past 12. The travel organization AAA released its annual holiday travel forecast Thursday. It predicts nearly 51 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles to celebrate the holiday. That's a 3 percent increase from last year, and the highest number since 2005. Travelers can expect to pay more for gasoline than years past, but less for airfare. AAA expects 89 percent of travelers to get to their destination by driving. To avoid getting caught in traffic, experts say you should stay off the roads the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, especially in the afternoons. That's when normal workweek commuters and travelers are on the road at the same time. "Plan ahead. Try to make sure you're getting out the door early in the morning, if possible. If you can travel on the holiday, that would be even better for travelers," explained Tamara Johnson with AAA.Travel experts said the high number of travelers is a good indicator people are earning money and feel comfortable spending it. Judge Amy Coney Barrett's Supreme Court confirmation hearings concluded Thursday with the Senate Judiciary Committee setting a full Senate vote to seat her on the Supreme Court on Oct. 22.Should more than half of Senators vote to confirm Barrett next week — and the Republican-controlled Senate appears to have the votes to do so — there will be time to seat the judge on the Supreme Court ahead of the 2020 election on Nov. 3.Democrats attempts to delay the vote reached a peak on Thursday, as Democratic senators on the committee opened the Thursday by filing motions to push back a committee vote.Thursday's portion of the hearing opened with only one Democrat — Sen. (KGTV) - A Jamul couple made a heartbreaking return to what remains left of their home, destroyed by the Valley Fire.Late Saturday afternoon, Irving and Anita Beeman shot cellphone video from the back yard of their home on West Boundary Truck Trail."The smoke blowing straight above our our house, so I knew we were in big trouble," said Irving Beeman.The fire seemed a good four to five miles away, but that changed quickly."In about 15 seconds, it went over a quarter mile ... The flames were between 100 and 200 feet tall," said Irving.Irving scrambled to a ridge and peered over."Looked like waterfall of fire from the top of the ridge to the bottom of the valley. A wind vortex or something took it straight down to valley floor," said Irving.Anita left first, while Irving left in another vehicle soon after. The couple only had time to load up what amounted to a truck bed of belongings. A photo taken by Irving shows his property, as it began burning."We watched it catch fire and then tore out of there," said Irving.The next day, the couple got back to their property, and their fears were realized. Their home of 20 years was no more. One of their trucks and their son's van were destroyed."Just devastating. Still had been holding out hope," said Anita.Buried under the remains of their home, were boxes containing the ashes of Anita's parents. In the rush, it didn't get packed."In the middle of night, you think of things that are gone, things you couldn’t save," said Anita."I would wake up and saw her crying. Just hugged her. Not much you can say. Just hug each other," said Irving.They'll continue to lean on each other, as they begin their long road to recovery."It'll be real tough to rebuild, but we’re going to," said Anita."We’re very grateful we’re alive and have a chance to rebuild," said Irving.The couple's home was insured.
