SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Tommy Bahama is known for its selection of tropical clothes and button-up shirts, but will soon add exotic drinks and dishes to its list in Mission Valley.The retail chain says it's set to open a Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar at Fashion Valley Mall in Spring 2020. It will be the company's fourth San Diego store.The 7,200-square-foot retail-restaurant concept will combine a retail shop selling the company's line of men's and women's sportswear and home decor with a casual restaurant and bar offering food and cocktails.RELATED: Margaritaville Island Resort coming to San DiegoTommy Bahama didn't say where within Fashion Valley the location would be placed. 10News has reached out to the mall for comment, but have yet to hear back.Judging by the menu at other locations, guests can expect cocktails with a tropical kick, like margaritas, mai tais, and mojitos, and dishes like mahi mahi, avocado salad, tacos, burgers, and more.Tommy Bahama currently has more than 160 retail locations across the country, with 17 of those locations doubling as Marlin Bars or retail-restaurant stores. 1111
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department gave 10News a behind the scenes look at the specially-trained team that solves arson cases. Inside Station One is the elite and highly specialized Metro Arson Strike Team, or MAST, made up of fire investigators, police detectives, ATF, FBI and a bomb squad. The team is dedicated solely to investigate arson. To be on the specialized team, MAST training goes beyond the fire academy. “You are wearing the hat of an electrical engineer, a scientist, a fire fighter, a report writer. We wear a lot of different hats and we have to be good at it,” said Captain James Shadoan. MAST spent the day with 10News demonstrating how they perform the task of solving an arson. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - This weekend job seekers are invited to the San Diego Cannabis and Hemp Job Fair & Business Mixer.Organizer Joshua Caruso, with the San Diego Cannabis Farmers Market, says it’s an important milestone one year after recreational marijuana was legalized in California. “We felt that the community really needed to know the brands and dispensaries and hemp companies that are local,” said Caruso. He says it’s the first job fair held in San Diego since recreational marijuana was legalized in the state.Over 30 companies will be at the event, including Golden State Greens located in Point Loma. “We are working professionals, we’re moms and dads and sisters and brothers and aunts and uncles, we’re just trying to shed a positive light on the industry,” said Golden State Greens Manager, Joshua Wilson. Wilson says Golden State Greens is a leader when it comes to complying with new state regulations and that they’re working to combat the negative stigma some still have about the industry.Companies are looking for employees of all skill levels, from managers to drivers. “There’s going to be people in suits, there’s going to be multi-million dollar companies, this is a real industry, this is a very thriving industry,” said Wilson. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego Unified School District and School Board President Kevin Beiser are holding a news conference Wednesday to discuss student safety in light of the Parkland shootings.The school officials will explain the district's plan to address the nationwide student-led walkout to protest government inaction to curb gun violence. President Beiser will also discuss a resolution he brought forth at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting demanding action from state and federal officials to reduce access to certain firearms. During the news conference, officials asked lawmakers in Sacramento to implement a 10 percent tax on firearms in California to help fund school safety programs.
