SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Dockless scooter users can now ride without a helmet as long as they are over the age of 18. A new law signed by Governor Jerry Brown went into effect January 1 lifting the helmet requirement for adult scooter users. AB 2989 removes the mandate for riders of motorized scooters to wear a bicycle helmet as long they are older than 18. It also forbids riding a motorized scooter on highways with a speed limit greater than 25 mph and roads with a speed limit greater than 35 mph, unless there is a marked bikeway. DUI laws still apply to scooter users and riders must have a valid driver’s license or permit. Helmets are required for those under the age of 18. People can still be cited for lying the scooter down on a sidewalk to impede traffic or riding scooter with a passenger. 807

The average price for a gallon of regular gas dropped for the 11th day Tuesday, decreasing three-tenths of a cent to .34. The average price has fallen 7.6 cents during the streak, according to figures from AAA. The average price is 4.7 cents less than a week ago and 20.4 cents less than a month ago. Despite the drop in prices, regular gasoline is 21.4 cents more than a year ago. The sharp increase in the cost of gas was felt around California after Governor Jerry Brown signed a gas tax increase that went into effect in 2017. In November of 2018, California voters turned down Proposition 6. The measure would have repealed the most recent gas tax hike and ensured that no new gas taxes get passed without voter approval. 876

Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, it's wait-and-see for every high school athlete."I think it's very disappointing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Harbor Police were searching for a vandal Monday who set off a panic at an upscale steak house along the Embarcadero.Customers took cover under tables and ran for the exits at Ruth’s Chris Steak House Sunday night when projectiles smashed through at least two of the restaurant’s bay-facing windows. Someone inside the restaurant shouted “gun,” prompting fears of an active shooter, customers told 10News.“It was one of the craziest things I’ve ever been through,” said Joey Giacalone, a long-time patron and former co-owner of the Venetian Restaurant in Point Loma. “I mean everyone is diving under tables. They sent us through the kitchen. Because again, no one knew what information was really out there. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Firefighters have extinguished the fire that caused a hotel near Harbor Island Park to be evacuated Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters say the two-alarm fire broke out at the Sheraton on the 1300 block of Harbor Island Drive. No one was injured, but the fire, which took place in the hotel's elevator shaft, caused at least 0,000 in damage. Firefighters were alerted to the fire after they say people reported heavy smoke coming from the elevator shaft.At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown.  551
