ROME, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- China and Italy are working on a plan to expand their bilateral economic cooperation as the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Italy diplomatic ties is just round the corner, said Chinese Ambassador to Italy Ding Wei on Saturday.The Chinese government is happy to see an enhanced and deepened economic ties between the two countries, said Ding while meeting with Adriano Luci, chairman of the industry association in Italy's northeastern city of Udine.He said Udine enjoyed a well-developed industrial capacity and saw ever-closer ties among Chinese and Italian firms.Ding hoped the association could encourage its member companies to champion the cooperation between Chinese enterprises and their Italian counterparts so as to materialize common development.Luci briefed Ding on Udine's industrial development, its companies' investment in China as well as their participation in the on-going Shanghai World Expo.He said he is willing to see the Italian and Chinese companies having more exchanges and further expanded areas of cooperation.According to Invitalia, the Italian official agency for promoting overseas investment and enterprise development, investment from Chinese companies in Italy has surged since 2000 and mainly goes to three main sectors, namely the automotive industry, logistics and machinery.Bilateral trade volume between China and Italy in the first half of 2010 registered a 36.3 percent rise compared to that of the same period last year, reaching some 20 million U.S. dollars.

BEIJING, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official has called for rule of law in the state's decision-making to ensure economic development and maintain social justice.Zhou Yongkang, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remark in his speech at a ceremony Sunday in Beijing to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the School of Law under Renmin University of China.After more than 60 years of development, a socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics is taking shape and China will further promote legislative, judicial and law enforcement work, said Zhou.Chinese authorities will pay more attention to scientific and democratic decision-making in line with laws to promote social harmony and justice, he said.The government will also pay more attention to education on laws and cultivation of more legal talents, the official added.Renmin University's School of Law is hosting an international seminar on legal systems of China and other countries. The event invited about 400 law experts from law schools of about 100 universities and colleges around the world.

CAIRO, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese and Egyptian industry officials vowed closer bilateral economic ties on Sunday with the signing of an industrial cooperation agreement.Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Rachid Mohamed Rachid met with Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Yizhong. Both talked about the expansion and improvement of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.Rachid told reporters that he hoped the new agreement would pave the way for more cooperation in different industry sectors including manufacturing of cars components, textiles, petrochemicals, electronics and technology."This agreement includes the process of sharing technology and increasing investment in the industrial sector and training of workers as well as helping Egyptian companies promote their products in the Chinese markets," said the Egyptian minister.The agreement also included the formation of an Egyptian- Chinese task force that takes the responsibility of sharing information and experiments in the industrial sectors and encouraging Egyptian and Chinese firms to establish joint ventures in different areas of cooperation, according to Rachid.Rachid said that Egypt wanted to benefit from the successful Chinese experience in the industrial sector.Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif also met with the Chinese minister. The prime minister said Egypt shows great interest in boosting cooperation with China.The bilateral trade between Egypt and China increased from 3 billion U.S. dollars in 2006 to 6.24 billion dollars in 2008, according to Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Wu Chunhua.By the end of last year, Chinese investment in Egypt exceeded 500 million U.S. dollars. Chinese auto companies such as Chery Automobile and Brilliance Automobile have had assembly lines here in Egypt.Rachid expected that the Egyptian-Chinese cooperation would witness a great milestone in all sectors, particularly the trade and industry relations thanks to exchanges in the economic and political levels.

  

YANGON, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The 5th Escort Task group of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA)- Navy, made up of two warships -- "Guanhzhou" and "Caohu" made a friendly call at Myanmar Yangon's Thilawa Port Sunday afternoon.It was also the first time for Chinese naval warship to have called at Myanmar port.The five-day mission is aimed at promoting friendly relationships between the two armed forces of the two countries and exchange between the two navies.A grand ceremony was launched to welcome the Chinese warships amid rain, attended by Major Han Sein, Commander of Myanmar Navy Dockyard Base, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ye Dabo and other embassy officials as well as representatives of Chinese companies, teachers and students based in Myanmar and local Chinese residents totaling about 200.Chinese naval soldiers and officers of destroyer Guangzhou stand in formation on board upon their arrival at Myanmar Yangon's Thilawa Port, Aug. 29, 2010. The 5th Escort Task group of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA)-Navy, made up of two warships -- "Guanhzhou" and "Chaohu" made a friendly call at Myanmar Yangon's Thilawa Port Sunday afternoon.After the ceremony, the warships were open to the visitors for viewing.During the call, the Chinese PLA escort task group will launch a series of exchange with the Myanmar navy.Myanmar is the fourth country that the 5th Chinese PLA escort task group called on after completing its escort missions in gulf of Aden and the waters off Somali coast.Prior to Myanmar, the escort task group had called on Egypt, Italy and Greece.
