"This way a seller is going to see who is the buyer and they may have a preference. They may prefer a family or a couple over an investor. He also says there are some simple ways to spruce up the house that will make it more attractive without costing too much money."Be aware of clutter and maybe move some furniture out of the house to make the rooms look bigger," he suggests. "Put a little investment into the front yard. Put some color in, put some flowers in, maybe use some bark to delineate the flower beds. Just improve on the general appeal of the house. Those small things can have a big payout."Feldmann says it's also crucial that sellers stay patient after they list a home."Let the property sit on the MLS for a few days, don't just accept the first offer that comes," he says. "Let it breathe like a good glass of wine. SAN DIEGO (KGTV/CNS) - Opening statements were delivered Thursday in the civil trial between NFL quarterback Drew Brees and a La Jolla jeweler who allegedly sold the football pro and his wife diamonds far above their actual value.Brees took the stand to describe the close relationship he says he had with the store owner. "He always talked about it as being an investment," said Brees. "Something that you could see appreciate in value."The lawsuit, filed in San Diego Superior Court last year, accuses Vahid Moradi and his company, CJ Charles Jewelers, of selling Brees and his wife Brittany million worth of diamonds between 2012 to 2016. 653

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --Three hours after returning from his deployment, Navy Lt. Eric Turner went to Seaworld. Not for the same reason as most visitors though - he was there to surprise his wife. Beckie Turner is a trainer. Hundreds of people pack in to see the "Dolphin Days" show at the park. Beckie does it every day, but Wednesday, September 13 there was something different going on backstage. "She's not expecting me, she thinks I'm on medical hold or something like that," her husband told 10News Reporter Bree Steffen.  "I hope she's not mad haha." Lt. Turner is back early from his 11-month deployment in the Middle East. The couple was reunited after he walked down the arena stairs, people cheering as Beckie got out of the water and embraced her husband. "It's nice to have him home," she said, tearing up. "Thank you all for being a part of it, it's really special." Eric and Beckie have four kids, have been married 10 years, and both of their parents served in the Navy.  1035

San Diego (KGTV)- Parents at several San Diego County high schools have been notified that students could have been exposed to Pertussis, also known as whooping cough. Carlsbad High School confirmed two cases last week. Monday, parents at Mt. Carmel High School were notified that students at that school may have been exposed to the infection, though it wasn't clear how many confirmed cases there have been at the school. “This is probably the most contagious bacterial disease,” says Eric McDonald, with the county’s Health and Human Services Department. “For every one person who has it, when they expose people who have not had or been immunized, they can infect up to 16 or 17 other people.”McDonald says symptoms of a typical cold are a runny nose, low-grade fever, and a cough. For someone who may have pertussis “its the persistence of the cough that should be the number one clue.”So far this year, in San Diego County, there have been over 70 confirmed cases of pertussis. “The number of cases in San Diego are higher than most of California, particularly for infants under the age of four months.”If your child has a cough that lasts almost two weeks, they should be treated by a doctor. McDonald recommends everyone get the DTaP shot to lower the risk of getting pertussis, especially pregnant women in their third trimester. 1347

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)-- President Trump's decision to delay nationwide ICE raids by two weeks is not stopping some San Diego community advocates from working overtime, educating migrants to know their rights. For Benjamin Prado, "Deportation" is always on his mind. "We see a policy of terror," Prado said. As a community advocate for 'American Friends Service Committee,' he connects migrants with various services. He has worked with those who were arrested at the Zion Market ICE Raid in February 2019."Whether people have documents or not, people have the right to work, and people have the right to produce and create a meaningful life for themselves," Prado said. Saturday, President Trump disagreed saying, "Everybody that came into the country illegally will be brought out of the country very legally."So even when the President announced that he would delay the planned nationwide ICE Raids initially scheduled to begin Sunday, Prado's work remains the same. "We are on a permanent campaign of informing families what their rights are," Prado said. "What their constitutional rights are, ensuring that they know that they don't have to speak to immigration law-enforcement, that they don't have to open the door, that they should demand to see any form of warrants that they have, whether it be judicial or administrative warrants that ICE produces."In a Tweet Saturday, Gavin Newsom agreed saying, "When we talk about knowing your rights, 'no abras la puerta.' Without a warrant, you don't have to open the door."Prado says it is imperative that families have a serious conversation with their children and relatives now, to avoid what are called "collateral arrests.""There have been instances where Immigration and Customs Enforcement not only goes after the individual, but they also go after family members," Prado said.
