(KGTV) -- The brother of San Diego hiker Paul Hanks is talking about his ordeal in Joshua Tree National Park. The best news they have to share with the public - Hanks is expected to make a full recovery. "Sunday was his birthday, he turned 54," said Dr. Steven Hanks, his brother. His brother said he was reported missing on Tuesday, March 13 after he failed to show up to a meeting with his ex-wife in Las Vegas. Hanks' truck was found near the Maze Loop and Hanks was found by a member of the Joshua Tree Search and Rescue crew on Thursday, March 15. According to his son-in-law, Hanks broke his ankle and fractured his skull after falling 20 feet. He was missing for four days and buried himself in the sand to stay warm, drinking rainwater to stay hydrated until he was found."He had a very harrowing experience. It's a compelling story of survival and we were just stunned when they found him," Hanks' brother said. "I think he's just incredibly thankful to be alive." When asked if he thought the experience hiker would ever return to Joshua Tree National Park, his brother said:"I think he'll absolutely go back. I do know if he goes back, he won't be going back without a satellite phone...a flare gun," he said, smiling. "He really thought he was going on a minimal risk venture. Duncan Hunter requested the President pardon two former Border Patrol agents.Ignacio Ramos, Jr., and Jose Compean were both jailed in 2006, for 11 and 12 years, respectively, on assault with a firearm resulting in great bodily injury and obstruction of justice charges.Both former agents had their sentences communed by former President George W. The pursuit became a foot chase when Aldrete-Davila reportedly abandoned his van and tried to run back across the border to Mexico.During the foot chase, Ramos caught up and a struggle began between the two, Hunter's letter stated. Aldrete-Davila broke free and made a run, again, toward the border, during which time both Ramos and Compean opened fire, striking Aldrete-Davila in the buttocks. 1035

(KGTV)— There are new developments in the fight to free the San Diego-based Navy SEAL accused of murdering an ISIS POW. There is concern he could head back to the brig before his May 28th trial, even after the President intervened. Representative Duncan Hunter’s team was under the impression that his March 31 meeting with Chief Eddie Gallagher would have major consequences. "I am going to see why they are going to put him back in the brig if my staff goes and talks to Eddie Gallagher,” Representative Hunter said in a Twitter video. He told his followers he was going to meet with the Navy Liaison to get answers. Navy Commander Tamara Lawrence told 10News Gallagher now lives in another San Diego base, which they cannot disclose. She said his current pre-trial restrictions allow for "significant freedom of movement." Gallagher is allowed to walk anywhere inside the building and around the sidewalk. For anything outside that immediate area, he must be with an escort. She said Gallagher has unlimited access to his legal team and medical care. While he cannot have a cellphone or computer, he is allowed visitors and to make calls from a community phone.
