(KGTV) - North San Diego County police are searching for a documented gang member they say killed a man outside his home in 2016.Edgar Hernandez Saavedra, 29, was named as the suspect of Miguel Luis Castillo's murder on August 20, 2016, Oceanside Police said.Saavedra was arguing with Castillo outside the man's home in the 800 block of Langford St. at about 2:40 a.m. Police said the argument escalated and Saavedra shot and killed Castillo with a semi-automatic handgun.ORIGINAL REPORT: Man shot, killed in Oceanside; Suspect at largeSince then, Saavedra's whereabouts have been unknown.Police describe Saavedra as a Hispanic male, with brown hair and brown eyes, standing about 5-foot 6-inches tall, and weighing 175 pounds. On Tuesday evening, researchers tracing an Orca whale that has been carrying her dead calf on her nose saw the whale still doing so.It isn't unusual for Orcas to carry their babies who die for about a day. This is the first time scientists studying the behavior have seen one do it for this long.The activity is stressful for the 20-year-old whale mother named Tahlequah. EcoWatch reports the baby's carcass sinks, and the mother has to retrieve it and push it along with her nose in sometimes choppy waters.Tahlequah was spotted Tuesday evening in waters near British Columbia's Southern Gulf Islands, the Seattle Times said.According to the Seattle Times, this is the first time in three years an endangered Orca has given birth. 759

(KGTV) -- Five Oceanside lifeguards will receive the Medal of Valor for saving a man buried in rocks on the Del Mar Jetty last October.On October 7, 2017, the lifeguards received a call about someone stranded after his vessel capsized due to a wave.When lifeguards arrived, they found the watercraft upside down on the rocks but were unable to locate the man.After more lifeguards were called to the scene, they found the operator of the vessel buried in the rocks.Lifeguards worked quickly to free the man due to the impact of the relentless surf. More rescue units from the Oceanside Fire Department and Oceanside Police Department were called to the scene and eventually freed the man.The victim was taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released. 812
