SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A burglary victim is hoping doorbell camera video will help track down some thieves who hunt down garage remotes before raiding the garage. Ring video shows a man on his stomach, around 2 a.m. Saturday, in Curtis Both's driveway off Morena Boulevard. In his hand is Both's garage door opener."My car was ransacked. The remote was in the center console," said Both. The man in the video likely pushed the button for the garage, just slightly. "He wanted to peer in to see what was there," said Both.Moments later, the garage door is heard opening. The man then walks in, before eventually leaving. About two hours later, that man is back with a friend. A camera mounted inside the garage shows them collecting items from the garage."Horrible. A complete violation," said Both.Airsoft gear, ski equipment, power tools, a pricey road bike were among the items that would vanish.A week earlier, about a mile away, a man with a similar backpack and high socks was recorded putting down the backpack and getting on his knees to shine a flashlight at a garage door. Soon after, he's seen heading across the street. That light inside Matt Friend's SUV comes on. Tucked in the door panel is the garage remote. Eventually, Friend's garage door open is seen opening."We were sleeping inside, with two sons in the other room, two- and three-year-old boys and my wife is pregnant so it's disheartening to think somebody is on our premise without us knowing," said Friend. The thief would get away with several items, including friend's ,000 Intense mountain bike."Some of the violation feels like they're just coming to our neighborhood and treating it like a department store, and they have no fear," said Both. Both victims say they almost always lock their car doors and aren't sure how the thief broke into their vehicles. 1840

He's given backpacks of supplies to the homeless, bought art supplies for kids at Rady's Childrens Hospital and bought holiday presents for refugee families."It makes me satisfied knowing that he's got a giant heart," says Raines.Recently, Dylan's giving has become more personal. One of his friends was diagnosed with a form of Muscular Dystrophy. Dylan decided to help with payments for his treatments."He needs a lot of money for each treatment," says Dylan. "It's, like, ,000 each time. So I'm trying to raise money for him."In June, Dylan was able to give his friend 0. He says he'll keep giving his lemonade money to his friend indefinitely."I'd like to give him ,000," says Dylan. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - U.S. Navy Secretary Richard Spencer and officials with the San Diego Association of Governments signed a formal agreement Thursday to potentially revamp the Naval Base Point Loma Old Town Complex, which local officials hope to use as a transit hub to connect public rail transit to the San Diego International Airport.SANDAG and local U.S. Navy officials signed a memorandum of understanding on the subject in July that did not require either party to take action on the 70-acre property but allowed both sides to discuss their vision for the complex's future. The agreement with Spencer and the Navy will supersede that document and start a path to San Diego's own "Grand Central Station" while working to modernize the complex for Navy uses as well.RELATED: SPAWAR area could be missing link to San Diego's airport transitIt outlines goals for this year and next year like finding funding for site planning, starting the environmental planning process, potentially drafting legislation and requesting congressional authorization if necessary."San Diego is a city of innovation and exploration that matches the work ethic of every sailor and Marine at sea," Spencer said. "With this agreement, we are taking our long partnership a step further, moving forward on a plan that will better protect our nation and invest in the community."RELATED: SANDAG leaders unveil bold vision for future of public transit in San DiegoThe project could eventually receive partial funding from the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, which signed a 10-year agreement worth more than a half-billion dollars with its airline partners in July to fund improvements to public transportation to and from the airport. The complex is currently home to Naval cybersecurity and information officials, including the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command. More than 5,000 personnel currently work at the World War II-era complex, using it for lab and storage space.RELATED: Navy, SANDAG exploring options to redevelop Naval Base Point Loma, Old Town complexSpencer met with a litany of local officials from the Navy, Airport Authority, North County Transit District, Port of San Diego, Caltrans and SANDAG, including San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, to hold a news conference and signing ceremony for the agreement."This exclusive agreement takes our partnership with the Navy to the next level and signals a new phase for what could be one of the most transformative projects in San Diego history," Faulconer said. "This project can strengthen the Navy's presence in San Diego, create thousands of jobs and incorporate a transit hub to make it easier for people across the region to get to and from the airport." 2722

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Bankers Hill man returned home to a knife-wielding man in his kitchen, leading to a frantic dash out of the neighborhood."I heard my neighbor pull up. I'm a light sleeper. Within a couple minutes, I heard sirens coming from every direction," said Tom.Tom, who asked us not to identify him, says two Sundays ago before 1 a.m., surveillance cameras showed his neighbor parking in front of his home. In the video, the homeowner is seen walking to his front door. An outdoor light turns off, and suddenly, another light comes on. Tom says that's when his neighbor encountered a stranger in his kitchen."He came home and found the guy standing at his back door with a bottle of alcohol from his cabinet, and a knife from his butcher block. He backed off a bit and called police," said Tom.The intruder ran out the back. He is then seen making his way to the front of the home, across the street and right to Tom's front door."He tries to get into my house. It's locked so he takes off down the street," said Tom. Tom says a man fitting the same description has been spotted stealing bikes and casing homes in the area. As for the recent break-in, Tom says it's not clear how the man got in, but video of the motion-activated lights suggest he was in the home for nearly an hour."It's more than a violation. You start to lose your sense of security, and that's the worst part of it," said Tom.The intruder is described as a white male, between 20 and 30 years old, 5’6"-5’8", 155 lbs, with tattoos on both forearms. He was wearing a grey shirt, dark pants, and a hat turned backwards. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call San Diego Police at 619-531-2000. 1694
