ANAHEIM (CNS) - A man working in a trench at Disneyland in Anaheim suffered fatal injuries Thursday when a steel plate fell on him. Paramedics were called to the park about 3:20 a.m., a Metro Net Fire dispatcher said. Javier Jimenez, a 37-year-old West Covina resident, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, according to Carrie Braun, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Coroner's Office. Jimenez was working for a contractor installing piping for a heating and air conditioning system outside of the theme park on Disneyland property, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt. Wyatt said a crane carrying a large pipe accidentally struck a cross beam, which knocked over a large metal plate shoring up a wall. The Madison County Clerk says no voting was compromised. Indiana State Police said Tyler Sink, 26, was on work release in Madison County and was authorized to work at the clerk's office. Investigators said an employee with the Madison County Justice Center told police they found a personal electronic ballot and a memory card hidden in Sink's personal belongings. State police say they believe Sink stole the equipment after he volunteered to set up a voting site while on work release. Madison County Clerk Darlene Likens says the compromised machines are not being used in early voting and that no voter information was stolen. "There is nothing, nothing was compromised," said Likens. An online Good Samaritan challenge that's gone viral prompted two Michigan brothers to offer free lawn mowing to people who can't easily do it themselves.Now, the nationwide challenge's organizer is headed to metro Detroit to recognize their efforts.16-year-old Sam and 13-year-old Hunter have mowed 51 lawns in Westland for free since April. It's a task most people hate, especially in the summer heat; but Sam loves it. So when his parents told him about the "50 Yard Challenge," it was a no-brainer.“We get the feeling that we’re helping people who really can’t help themselves," he said.Rodney Smith, Jr. created the challenge. As coronavirus cases surge throughout the US, there is an apparent strain on labs conducting tests.Quest Diagnostics said on Tuesday that it is processing 50% more tests per week than at the end of September. This has caused a slight delay in priority tests for high-risk patients and essential workers.“We will continue to expand our physical capacity, with the addition of new testing instruments and related equipment,” Quest said. “We also intend to expand our lab referral partner program. And we will continue to strive to provide the fastest testing for priority patients, which includes those who are hospitalized, pre-surgical or receiving care in congregate settings, such as nursing homes.”LabCorp says it is still processing coronavirus tests in one to two days. The company is conducting 210,000 coronavirus tests per day, but has the capacity to do 300,000 a day.With Thanksgiving just a week away, there is concern that the holiday will cause increased testing demand.
