A prayer rally was held over the weekend for a 33-year-old man who died after being arrested by sheriff’s deputies in a Southern California grocery store.The man, Ernie Serrano, was at the store last Tuesday night in line to pay for his items. Sheriff’s deputies say when they arrived at the store, they saw Serrano tussling with a security guard and attempting to take the guard’s gun, according to a department press release.“While detaining Serrano, he continued fighting with the deputies and did not comply with their commands. While at the hospital, Serrano’s condition deteriorated, and he was later pronounced deceased," the department states. A massive fire broke out in Queens, New York on Thursday morning — a blaze that has injured at least 12 people, including seven firefighters.NBC New York reports that 25 fire departments responded to the fire, which started in the Sunnyside neighborhood in Queens. Six businesses were damaged by the fire.None of the injuries are minor injuries and not expected to be life-threatening.One of the buildings affected by the fire experienced a collapse during the incident, according to fire officials. At least a dozen firefighters were in the building at the time of the collapse.It's not yet clear what started the fire.  634

A parrot in the United Kingdom used his owner’s Alexa to shop online while his owner was away, according to the Daily Mail. According to the paper, the parrot’s owner, Marion Wischnewski, decided to foster him after volunteering at a sanctuary. The bird was placed at the sanctuary because staff feared his use of swear words would upset people. After taking the bird home, Wischnewski, said she started noticing that the bird was purchasing things like watermelon, raisins, ice cream, a light bulb and even a kite while she was away. A police union representing officers with the Rochester Police Department claimed Friday that the video of Daniel Prude's arrest that was released by the department was "not complete" and "not accurate."Michael D. Mazzeo, the president of the Rochester Police Locust Club, did not get into specifics as to what was missing from the version of the video released by the Rochester Police Department on Wednesday, citing that an investigation was ongoing.Mazzeo also said that the officers' use of a "spit hood" was within department protocols and consistent with their training, adding that officers had gone through mandated state training between 30 and 40 days prior to the incident.He he added that Prude had made references to have tested positive for coronavirus during the incident.He also called for the New York Attorney General to conduct an "impartial" and "transparent" investigation.Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren suspended seven officers Thursday after video was released that showed officers shoving Prude's head into the ground for about two minutes after finding him naked and bleeding in the street. A suspect is dead and a deputy was shot and wounded on Saturday following a car chase that led through the streets of Columbus, Ohio. A Franklin County Sheriff's Office spokesperson told WCMH-TV that the pursuit started several miles away when the deputy attempted to pull over the vehicle for a traffic stop. The chase came to an end after a few minutes when the suspect crashed his pickup truck into a pole. A witness captured video of the shooting and posted it on social media.
