SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Witnesses say a woman was driving at least 100 mph before she crashed into a power pole in the Oak Park area and died early Sunday morning.The crash happened in the 2000 block of 54th Street around 1:30 a.m.According to witnesses, the woman was traveling at approximately 100 mph when she struck a curb, skidded out of control and hit a power pole.The 33-year-old became pinned inside the vehicle after the crash. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to cut the woman out of the vehicle.The woman died at the scene due to her injuries. At this time, police say they don’t know whether or not drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. 672

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Vandals damaged a park in Sabre Springs Thursday night, dumping sand into toilets and scrawling inappropriate graffiti on the walls. Trash cans were emptied out and piles of wood chips were dumped along the entrance to the South Creek Neighborhood Park. The clogged toilets and sinks caused minor flooding in the bathrooms. Some of the plumbing was also damaged, according to the San Diego Police Department. City crews cleaned up the mess by the afternoon. Police were still searching for the culprits Friday. 537

San Diego (KGTV)- After a second vote, a marijuana production facility is given the green light to move forward. Dozens of people, on both sides of the issue, were there as city leaders made their decision. Planning commissioners voted 4 to 2, giving business leaders the conditional use permit they needed to move ahead with plans. “We’re elated that the decision was in our favor,” says Jared Angell, CFO of THinC. “We followed all the rules and regulations and were glad to see that the planning commission could uphold that.”Business leaders were hoping for this decision after a deadlock vote of 3 to 3 last week. The over 21,000 square feet building on Ruffner Road will be used for the marijuana production site. During today’s vote, some planning commissioners asked that the building, moving forward, be more transparent by adding more windows. Commissioners also requested storage items be housed on the top level. Community members were concerned about the safety and future of their neighborhood, but business leaders say ThinC is committed to working with everyone.“We reached out to a lot of local business and community members, and we’ve been working with them to ensure that our business will not negatively affect them in any way,” says Angell. “It sends a strong message about the strength of community,” says community member Ping Wang. “I would be overjoyed for our community coming together, banning together, and supporting each other.”The site will be used for manufacturing and distributing marijuana products. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Uber has filed paperwork with the FAA to start testing drones in San Diego for food delivery.The petition seeks a series of exemptions that would allow Uber to use drones to transport food in the city of San Diego.The FAA recently granted its first air carrier certification to a drone company, Wing Aviation, which will begin testing in Blacksburg, Virginia.In Uber’s application, it said it would be using the AirRobot 200 drone, a hexa-copter which is larger than typical drones used by videographers.It says the drones would not fly higher than 400 feet and have a range of 3.5 miles.There is currently a public comment period on the FAA’s website.An FAA spokesperson told 10News, “we will thoroughly evaluate all comments we receive, as well as the petitioner’s proposal and associated safety measures, before making a decision.”Uber declined to comment for this story. 901
