(KGTV) - A local couple is defending themselves after having their claims questioned following the release of new surveillance video showing a man allegedly trying to snatch a toddler from their car in a Vista Costco parking lot last weekend.The surveillance video released Thursday night shows 37-year-old Adam Glavinic walking up to the driver's side of the parent’s white SUV. The SUV begins slowly backing out of the stall, and that is when Glavinic reaches for the rear passenger door handle. Glavinic is shown opening the door then quickly shutting it and stepping away as a woman gets out the driver’s seat to confront him. Glavinic doesn't appear to reach inside to grab the boy who was in the backseat, according to his parents.“There's way more to this story that people don't know,” said mother Jennifer Lawson on Friday. She said that she and her fiancé are taking heat from the public after describing the encounter differently from what the video reveals. “We didn't lie. We were told that from everybody who was seeing the incident that he did touch our kid. He did reach his hand in the car. So, that's what we went off of. I didn't see [it] because I jumped out of the car as soon as I saw that guy open up the door,” she told ABC10 News.Earlier this week before the video came out, the couple said the man tried to pull their boy out of his car seat.Glavinic was arrested for attempted kidnapping and being under the influence.In response to community outrage over Glavinic posting bail and getting out of jail the next day, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department published the video in hopes of alleviating concern.The sheriff's office said that, based on the video and other evidence, "the Vista Sheriff's Station believes there is no ongoing threat or danger to our community's children related to this incident."When asked if Glavinic should still be charged, Lawson replied, “I'm not sure. I don't know his intentions. I didn’t know if he was going to kidnap my kid or hurt him. All I know is that it was terrifying and I was scared for my kid's life, safety [and] everything.”The case has been referred to the DA's Office, which is reviewing it. Virginia Beach Police are investigating a shooting that seriously injured two people early Sunday morning.Officers were alerted to multiple shots fired in the area around 12:45 a.m. A woman was located and suffering from a life-threatening wound. Medics treated the woman and took her to the hospital.A few minutes later at 12:48 a.m., officers received word that a victim with life-threatening injuries was located in several blocks away. EMS treated and took the victim to the hospital for further treatment.A possible suspect has been detained and the investigation is ongoing.Prior to this shooting, police responded to another shooting at the 1900 block of the Boardwalk. A woman suffered non-life threatening injuries in the incident.There is an increased police presence throughout the oceanfront area due to College Beach Weekend. Problems with violence in past years have caused some to be critical of the event. Last year, thousands signed a petition calling for an end to College Beach Weekend after four people at the Oceanfront were injured from a shooting. 1078

WASHINGTON — The U.S. government on Tuesday will start distributing 30,000 doses of an experimental monoclonal antibody drug to fight COVID-19, the one President Donald Trump received last month.Over the weekend, the Food and Drug Administration agreed to allow emergency use of the therapeutic, casirivimab and imdevimab, made by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc., for people with mild-to-moderate symptoms who are at high risk of developing serious illness because of their age or other medical conditions.The treatment was not authorized for use in sicker, hospitalized patients or those who need extra oxygen.President Donald Trump was given the therapeutic treatment when he contracted coronavirus in October. The Department of Health and Human Services said the federal government announced funding over the summer to support large-scale manufacturing of casirivimab and imdevimab.The agency will allocate “these government-owned doses to state and territorial health departments which, in turn, will determine which healthcare facilities receive the infusion drug,” reads a statement from HHS.“Beginning immediately, weekly allocations to state and territorial health departments will be proportionally based on confirmed COVID-19 cases in each state and territory over the previous seven days, based on data hospitals and state health departments enter into the HHS Protect data collection platform,” reads the HHS statement.Antibodies bind to the virus and help the immune system eliminate it. (KGTV) -- A Navy veteran accused of torturing and disfiguring his neighbors’ dogs decided Tuesday to represent himself in court.The accused attacker, David Herbert, told the jury room repeatedly that he didn’t do it, adding that authorities have the wrong man.Prosecutors in the case say the evidence and video show there’s no mistake. Herbert is accused of such torture as gouging out a Husky’s eye and pouring acid on another. Prosecutors say they have several smoking guns, including a bloody bat and saliva samples with DNA from the dogs taken from Herbert’s car and home.The most compelling evidence in the case is surveillance video of a missing dog Herbert is seen driving away with. The dog was never seen again.Other neighbors further detailed the alleged abuse inflicted on the two Huskies. One of the dogs was dumped at Camp Pendleton and, when that failed, Herbert reportedly broke into their home, gouging out one of the dog’s eye and forcing another to ingest antifreeze.Both families said they moved, terrified Herbert would hurt their children.
