(KGTV) - A Granite Hills High School math teacher is under investigation for serious allegations of misconduct, the Grossmont Union High School District said Tuesday, the first day of the new school year.Ryan Braun was placed on paid administrative leave August 8 after the district learned of the allegations, a spokesperson said.The alleged misconduct happened outside of school hours and off-campus, according to the Grossmont Union High School District.RELATED: Granite Hills High teacher resigns amid misconduct allegationsLaw enforcement officials and the district will continue the investigation and if misconduct occurred, Braun might be dismissed, the district said. 700
Eastman Kodak’s potentially lucrative deal to help the U.S. government make more generic drugs domestically is threatening to turn into a regulatory headache for the fallen photography giant. Kodak’s stock price surged last week before the company announced its plans to work with President Donald Trump’s administration in exchange for a 5 million loan. That prompted Sen. Elizabeth Warren to ask Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate whether insider trading laws have been broken. For months, Kodak's stock hovered around per share. On Monday, the stock was at .62 per share. By Wednesday, the stock jumped to .20 per share. The price has come back down since, with it dropping to .40 on Tuesday.The Wall Street Journal is now reporting the SEC has opened a probe. The SEC declined to comment while Kodak says it will cooperate with any inquiry.Trump was asked Kodak's potential deal."I wasn’t involved in the deal," Trump said. For one Colorado city, it’s been huge.At prAna, an activewear business located in Boulder, Colorado, Drew Romano’s biggest concerns are his customers and Mother Nature. Recycling is front and center.“Hey, we're not just throwing your stuff in the landfill; it's actually being recycled,” says Romano about the company.Most of prAna‘s shipping supplies are recyclable. As for the plastics bags that hard to recycle, prAna partnered with a company to make sure they don't end up in the landfill.“We wanted to make sure that we can strive to be as zero waste as possible,” says Ramano.It's part of the city’s Universal Zero Waste Ordinance, which requires businesses to recycle and compost. Environmental manager Kara Mertz, who works for the City of Boulder, says in just one year, the effort is paying off. The city is now saving more than half of its trash from going to the landfill.Mertz says they used this video to show residents how to recycle. Then, they made it easy for residents to do it, by placing bins with clear and identical signage across the city.“I think making it easy and accessible to everyone is really the key,” says Mertz.Mertz says it's something we can all do, no matter where we live.“We do believe that over time people will get more and more used to it,” Mertz says. “It'll become second nature, and then all of that material, once it's sorted properly, can be put in the correct bins.” 1520
EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) — One firefighter was injured while battling a house fire in El Cajon Saturday.The first-alarm fire on Sycamore Lane broke out just before 12:30 p.m., according to Heartland Fire Department. One firefighter was injured during the battle and transported to a nearby hospital.Firefighters told 10News the fire may have started in the backyard, before spreading quickly to the home before it was put out. 433
DULZURA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Three fires burned in rural East County Wednesday afternoon as Cal Fire worked to extinguish the flames. According to Cal Fire, all three of the fires sparked in the community of Dulzura along Highway 94 between Otay Lakes Road and Freezer Road. Video of the blaze shows traffic in the area backed up for several miles after crews closed Highway 94 between Otay Lakes Road and Barrett Lake Road. Around 5:30 p.m., Cal Fire said crews were able to stop the forward rate of spread of all three fires. In total, all three fires burned slightly less than 32 acres. Sky10 was live over the fire.
