JACUMBA,Calif. (KGTV) — Neighbors in a rural East County town are once again fighting the possible release of a sexually violent predator into their community.Currently, the Department of State Hospitals is considering Thomas Cornwell as the next new resident of the Jacumba Hot Springs area. Cornwell was convicted of lewd acts with children under 14.While the Jacumba area is patrolled by San Diego Sheriff's deputies, neighbors aren't satisfied.RELATED:'Bolder than Most' rapist not being released yetInvestigators seek victims of suspected North County child predatorEx-NFL tight end Kellen Winslow II changes plea to guilty in rape trialWhen asked how do you explain to children that there's sexually violent predators in your community, one resident told 10News, "tell them there's a rattlesnake that walks on two legs."County Supervisor Dianne Jacob has been an outspoken critic against the placement of sexually violent predators in the area. Jacob says the individuals should, instead, be kept behind bars."As far as I'm concerned, they gave up their right to freedom when they preyed on our young and most vulnerable. They don't belong in any town. They belong behind bars," Jacob said in a statement.Since 2015, nine of 12 sexually violent predators in the county have been released into the East County. Five of 12 have violated the conditions of their release. Four have been returned to a state mental institution.Cornwell's release hasn't been finalized. His hearing is set for Dec. 14, where the public is welcomed to attend and comment. 1561

Just days after meeting with the family of a victim of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade on Wednesday visited the school in Parkland, Florida.Tweets surfaced of the visit.Wade is in his second stint with the Heat after he was traded earlier this season from the Cavaliers. When he learned that Joaquin Oliver, one of 17 people killed in the shooting, was buried in a Wade Heat jersey, the NBA star dedicated the rest of the season to the teen."This is why we will not just SHUT up and dribble!" Wade said in a tweet on February 26, adding in another: "It's way BIGGER than basketball. We are the voices for the people that don't get to be heard."The day after Wade made that dedication, he hit a game-winning jumper to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers 102-101 in Miami. The night Wade hit the shot, he wore shoes with Oliver's name written on them. LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) - A famous architectural gem known as the Razor House is for sale for ,000,000 in La Jolla. The home, which is named for Razor Point, was designed by leading architect Wallace E. Cunningham. Located in La Jolla Farms near the Torrey Pines Golf Course, the home sits on some 12,000 square feet of cliff-top land.PHOTOS: Tour the 'Razor House' in La Jolla“Few residences are so groundbreaking in design that they need a name to convey their architectural significance. The Razor House is one of these rare and celebrated masterpieces which has a name that pays homage to a stunning yet treacherous landscape where majestic cliffs meet the infinity of the ocean,” said Laleh Monshizadeh. “When The Razor House was completed in 2007, the property was widely regarded as an architectural marvel. The cinematic nature of its design has made it a highly sought-after filming location and has already been featured in TV commercials for Calvin Klein and Visa Black Card.”Designed with concrete, stainless steel and glass, the space takes advantage of panoramic ocean views.“Walled in by sheets of glass, the house is so transparent that you feel as if you are suspended in air, completely surrounded by water,” said Niloo Monshizadeh. “It takes a daring visionary to take a modestly sized, steep oceanfront lot that had been previously declared ‘unbuildable’ and create a masterpiece nestled sensitively into the hillside. Following the Wrightian tradition of organic architecture, Wallace E. Cunningham drew inspiration from the challenging terrain, imagining a dynamic residence spread across the land that takes advantage of its position amid deep canyon, golden sandstone and jagged bluff leading into vast views of the Pacific Ocean.”The home is listed by Laleh and Niloo Monshizadeh of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in La Jolla.9826 La Jolla Farms Rd.Bedrooms: 4Baths: 4Partial baths: 2Square feet: 10,653 in main house, 1,301 in guest house 1986
KEY WEST, Fla. – The civil rights attorney who represents the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery has now been retained by the mother of young boy arrested by police in Florida.Attorney Ben Crump has been retained by Bianca N. Digennaro, whose 8-year-old son with behavioral disabilities was handcuffed by Key West police and charged with felony battery in 2018. The boy had allegedly punched a teacher. On Twitter, Crump posted body camera footage of the incident, which shows officers detain the small boy, lecture him and allegedly transport him to an adult prison for processing.Unbelievable!! @KWPOLICE used “scared straight” tactics on 8yo boy with special needs. He's 3.5 ft tall and 64 lbs, but they thought it was appropriate to handcuff and transport him to an adult prison for processing!! He was so small the cuffs fell off his wrists! pic.twitter.com/iSTlXdKas6— Ben Crump (@AttorneyCrump) August 10, 2020 “I hate that you had to put me into this position to do this," one officer said. "The thing about it is, you made a mistake. Now it’s time for you to learn about it and to grow from it, not repeat the same mistake again.”Posted on Sunday, the clip has already been viewed by millions and is drawing outrage online. In a press release, Crump says he and attorney Devon Jacobs plan to file a federal lawsuit against the officers involved, school officials, the City of Key West and the Monroe County School District.Crump says the boy had an individualized education plan due to his disabilities."Instead of honoring and fulfilling that plan, the school placed him with a substitute teacher who had no awareness or concern about his needs and who escalated the situation by using her hands to forcibly move him," Crump wrote. "When he acted out, the teacher called the police, who threatened him with jail and tried to put him in handcuffs, which fell off because he was too little."Key West Police Chief Sean T. Brandenburg said Monday that his officers followed standard procedures and did nothing wrong.“This is a heartbreaking example of how our educational and policing systems train children to be criminals by treating them like criminals – if convicted, the child in this case would have been a convicted felon at eight years old,” wrote Crump. “This little boy was failed by everyone who played part in this horrific incident.” 2382
