The Federal Reserve will almost certainly raise interest rates Wednesday at Jerome Powell's first meeting as chairman.The question is what his plans will be for the central bank later this year, as the Fed wrestles with how to prevent the economy from overheating.Some hints may come when Powell and members of the Federal Open Market Committee release their revised economic forecasts. The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh has received about 50 new allegations of abuse in the week since a grand jury report was published about sexual abuse by priests, according to diocese spokesman Rev. Nicholas Vaskov, as reported in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette."All of the allegations are from prior to 1990 and go back as far as the 1940s," Vaskov said in a statement to the Post Gazette.CNN has reached out to the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh but has yet to hear back.None of the new allegations have yet been turned over to prosecutors, according to the district attorney's office in Allegheny County.Mike Manko, the spokesman for the district attorney, told CNN he was "not aware of any new referrals."The new allegations come in the wake of a Pennsylvania grand jury report that documented decades of alleged sexual abuse by priests and a system of cover-ups by Church higher-ups. The Commission on Presidential Debates announced that they've officially canceled the Oct. 15 debate between President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.In a press release, the commission stated that since both candidates made different arrangements for Oct. 15, the commission will focus on the third and final presidential debate, which is slated for Oct. 22."Subject to health security considerations, and in accordance with all required testing, masking, social distancing, and other protocols, the debate will take place at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee," the commission said in the press release.The move to a virtual debate was as a precaution since Trump tested positive for COVID-19 last week.Trump was airlifted to Walter Reed Medical Center last Friday and then discharged from Walter Reed on Monday.According to the Associated Press, The White House has been mum about releasing any information as to when the president last tested negative for the virus.Trump told Fox Business that he would not "waste his time" with a virtual debate.CNN reported that because of Trump backing out and Biden agreeing to do a town hall with ABC, the commission didn't see the Oct. 15 debate likely happening.NPR reported that another reason behind the cancelation was because the Trump campaign and the commission couldn't agree on safety protocols.The Oct. 22 debate will be divided into six 15-minute segments. The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a safety alert about flying with dry ice onboard, in anticipation of the huge nationwide distribution project anticipated to start in the next few days once the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is approved for use.The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines both need to be kept at extremely cold temperatures, requiring the use of dry ice during transit.Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide that is pressed into blocks or pellets. It doesn’t melt into a liquid, it moves directly from a solid to a gas and that process can happen quickly at high altitudes.That can cause problems onboard a plane, such as causing the plane to weigh less at times during the flight and change its center of gravity.“CO2 sensors installed or carried in the aircraft or worn by the pilots and other crewmembers will assist the operator and crew in recognizing hazardous concentrations of CO2 and implementing effective risk controls,” the FAA’s safety alert recommends.In addition, they encourage maximum ventilation onboard while on the ground and in the air, asking crewmembers to check air conditioning units and auxiliary power units before flight.Exposure to elevated levels of CO2 can cause drowsiness or dizziness, and higher levels can impact breathing eventually leading to hypoxia and death.The FAA also recommends that “pilot training on specific conditions and procedures can improve pilot decision-making in the event of a CO2 detector alert or other system abnormalities.”Friday morning, Health and Human Services Director Alex Azar said Americans could begin getting the COVID-19 vaccine next week once the FDA and CDC give it emergency use approval. 1676
