(KGTV) — An inmate who escaped from San Quentin State Prison in Northern California the day after Christmas was apprehended Saturday about 200 miles away.Shalom Mendoza, 21, was reported missing just after 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 26 after he had been working outside of the prison perimeter with other inmates, according to the state Corrections and Rehabilitation Department (CDCR).Investigators began searching the surrounding area and say he appeared to have carjacked a Toyota Rav4 from a Home Depot parking lot in the San Rafael area.RELATED: San Quentin State Prison inmate escapes, suspected in carjackingThe Toyota was later found abandoned off the 101 Freeway north of Paso Robles on Friday. (KGTV) - A nun died in court Friday during a proceeding related to the legal battle against the Los Angeles Archdiocese and singer Katy Perry.Sister Catherine Rosse Holzman, 89, died in court during the proceeding related to the sale of a Los Feliz property, according to ABC-affiliate KABC.Holzman was part of an order of nuns known as The Sisters of the Most Holy and Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The order owned a hilltop property that used to be a convent but sold it in 2015 to entrepreneur Dana Hollister.The Archdiocese intervened, however, saying the offer was void because the order did not get the sale approved by the Archdiocese or Pope Francis. This led to the court battle over whether Hollister, who offered million for the property, was a suitable buyer as opposed to Perry, who offered .5 million.Perry's offer has the approval of Los Angeles' archbishop but has yet to gain approval by the Vatican.A judge ruled in favor of Perry in 2016, saying the archdiocese has to first authorize any sale, and the nuns didn't have his permission before entering into the agreement with Hollister. 1179

She is in the film industry, which has mostly been shut down during this pandemic. With the help of others, like Ruddy Salazar, they have grown the page to more than 40,000 members.Salazar knows the frustration of dealing with the Employment Development Department firsthand. He has been on both disability and unemployment. “I’ve actually had to call three times now. The first two times took around 300 calls,” Salazar said. “I think it’s frustrating to see that this many people need that help. That our government isn’t there,” Chan said. Questions on the Facebook page range from the application process, identity verification, benefit extensions, and how to actually reach someone in the EDD office to help.They hope the group can give people an avenue to avoid having to call the EDD.
