SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man suspected of shooting another man during an altercation on a trolley in downtown San Diego was taken into custody, San Diego police said.At around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the trolley station in the 1200 block of Imperial Avenue after a 35-year-old man was shot in the leg.According to police, the victim was struck by gunfire during in a verbal altercation with another man while both were riding a trolley train. Police said the victim was able to tackle the suspect, and other trolley passengers helped get the gun away from the suspected shooter.The suspected shooter fled the scene following the incident.ABC 10News learned the victim was rushed to the hospital and is expected to survive.About 90 minutes after the shooting was reported, officers spotted the man believed to be linked to the incident near Logan Avenue and Beardsley Street and then detained him.The suspect was later identified as 18-year-old Salvador Sanchez Cantero.A motive for the altercation is unclear; the shooting is under investigation. 1072

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was arrested Sunday morning after police say he crashed into a police car during a chase in La Mesa.The crash happened around 1 a.m. on Spring Street and University Avenue. Police say they were called to an area bar when a man involved in a fight got into his car and drove away.The chase was brief and ended when the suspect struck the police car. The driver was taken into custody for weapons charges and driving under the influence, police say.No one was injured in the crash. 513

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A pair of local singers are trying to help people cope with social distancing by hosting live happy hour concerts on Facebook.Don LeMaster and Corey Hable host shows a couple of times a week, singing for nearly three hours."It's just as fun for us as it is for the people watching," says LeMaster. "We love doing it, and it's helping us in our home. He had to miss a gig because he had a cold. So he decided to sing online that night.Now that he and Hable are out of work, they've kept it going. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A new scam appears to target local Amazon customers worried about being victims of package theft.Neighbors at the Escala community in Mission Valley say package thefts have been an ongoing problem for the last few years.Could the trend be providing fuel for a scam? A recent encounter at the housing complex could point to a new method by scammers.Adriana Alberdi, who has lived at the complex for a decade, said she and other residents received an email from the property management company describing a recent visitor.According to the email, the man — described as blond and in his early 20s — was wearing a lanyard connected to a tablet. He had business cards and claimed to work at Amazon. At one point, the man went to the on-site office pushing to install an Amazon Key device in homes. The new service allows Amazon to gain access to a home or car to deliver packages and keep them from getting stolen.The email says the man was "pushy" and "argumentative," before finally leaving. Amazon confirmed the man was not an employee."It's like you're getting robbed of your security. You don't know who to trust anymore," said Alberdi. "This is new. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man accused of sexually assaulting women at knife-point across San Diego will face trial.On Tuesday, Judge Maureen F. Hallahan bound over eight felony counts against 19-year-old Seth Roberts.Three of his alleged victims gave testimony on Tuesday, describing their encounters with him.The first was an 18-year-old woman who said she had dated Roberts for about two months last year. They had been living in Oklahoma but both decided to hitchhike to California in October. RELATED: Former pro skateboarder convicted of rape and murder granted paroleThe woman, whose name was not released, said they stayed in Los Angeles for a week before coming down to San Diego where they were staying in a tent at a campground.She told the judge Roberts forcibly raped her one morning, holding her hands above her head.“I was telling him it was wrong, saying it was rape,” she said.After, she said Roberts left to go to work and she called a Lyft car which drove her all the way to Arizona where she called police and reported the alleged rape.The second victim said she met Roberts while walking near the beach in Pacific Beach in November of 2018.“He seemed like a very nice person,” she said through an interpreter.RELATED: Police searching for additional victims in sex assault caseThe woman said she is from Brazil but had been living in Washington, DC working as an au pair for a family.She traveled with them to San Diego for vacation and bumped into Roberts on her day off.She said he began making small talk and told her his roommate had a Brazilian girlfriend. He convinced her to walk with him towards his apartment to meet her.But she said before they made it there, he directed her to an area on the side of a home and pulled out a knife.She told the court that Roberts put his hand down her pants and inserted his finger into her anus while holding a knife to her throat.“I thought of my family. I thought of my dreams, how much I wanted to come here,” she said. “I could have never imagined this would happen to me.”A third woman also testified, saying Roberts raped her in her home at knife-point after she refused his advances.Roberts is being held on ,000,000 bail.
