NASHVILLE, Mich. - A family with a passion with aviation decided to take their hobby on the road.Gino Lucci of Nashville, Mich. is a pilot, mechanic, and federal inspector of aviation. His passion prompted an idea when he was a kid."I always wanted to do one, since I was 12-years-old, and I just wanted to make an airplane out of a motor home," said Lucci. "The truck won't fly, but the airplane drives."Lucci named the RV The Fabulous Flamingo.To make his plans a reality, Lucci's son Giacinto tracked down a plane in Missouri. It had been deemed inoperable due to a tornado that rolled through the area. The plane was built in 1943 and used in South America by the Navy during the World War II era."It took us about four to six weeks to really sit down and say, 'Alright, I’ll sell it to you," Giacinto recalled.The family gutted the airplane but tried to keep as much of the original interior as possible. Some of the parts they removed were sent to France to restore a similar plane for a D-Day memorial.The RV is classified as a Class A motor home and is up to safety standards. More than 200 small earthquakes peppered California's Imperial Valley on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.The USGS reports that 240 small earthquakes occurred near Westmorland, California, between 4 p.m. local time Wednesday evening into 8 p.m. local time Thursday morning. Most of the quakes measure about magnitude 3.0, with the largest being a magnitude 4.9 quake.The seismic activity continued into Thursday morning, as dozens more small earthquakes occurred in what the USGS calls the "Brawley seismic zone." Dr. Lucy Jones, a seismologist, founder & chief scientist at her center, said it is one of the largest swarms ever seen in the Imperial Valley — and it is historically one of the most active swarms in Southern California. According to the USGS, the area also saw earthquake swarms in 1981 (which included a magnitude 5.8 quake) and in 2012 (which included a magnitude 5.4 quake).The USGS reports that the earthquake swarm will continue to produce small earthquakes over the next seven days, and while there may be a few moderately-sized earthquakes up to magnitude 5.4, the system will eventually peter out.A second less likely scenario laid out by the USGS indicates that a large earthquake between magnitudes 5.5 and 6.9 is possible. A third — and least likely — scenario indicates that an enormous earthquake of magnitude 7.0+ could happen, which would cause "serious" impacts on nearby communities.Luckily, Jones said the earthquake swarm is too far away to have an impact on the dangerous San Andreas."The swarm happening now south of the Salton Sea, near Westmorland is over 30 km south of the end of the San Andreas," she tweeted. MUNSON, Pa. — Three men have been charged with more than 1,400 counts for allegedly having sex with dogs, horses, a cow and a goat on a makeshift farm in Pennsylvania.Terry Wallace, 41; Matthew Brubaker, 32, and Marc Measnikoff, 34, all of Munson, Pennsylvania, were charged with endangering children, corruption of minors, cruelty to animals and 1,460 counts of sexual intercourse with animals. According to the Clearfield County District Attorney's Office, authorities were notified by a teen living on the property. The teen told authorities the three men constructed a holding pen in the shape of a "V" to help facilitate sexual intercourse with the animals.Police raided the property on Aug. 18 and found a "large volume of homemade videos," and camera equipment allegedly used to film the acts.State police assisted in the raid due to reports of semi-automatic weapons being on the property, authorities said.Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. said the incident is "one of the most extreme cases of animal abuse that his office has handled."Authorities said it doesn't appear that the teen was a victim of sexual assault, but they are working to determine the extent of any mental or physical abuse he may have been exposed to.Each defendant is being held on a 0,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday. 1374

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Postmaster General Louis DeJoy told senators Friday that the cost-cutting fixes he has made to the U.S. Postal Service transportation system were designed to improve service."The only change I made, ma'am, was the trucks leave on time," said Postmaster General Louis DeJoy on Friday.But an investigation by Scripps station WTVF in Nashville found that, at the same time that DeJoy was testifying, the Postal Service was paying for an empty truck to drive from Nashville to Illinois.It turns out that DeJoy's changes have led to empty postal trucks being run all over the country.Testifying before a U.S. Senate committee Friday, DeJoy defended his cost-cutting measures, specifically highlighting cuts that targeted transportation issues within the Postal Service.Those cuts require postal trucks to leave sorting facilities by a specific time each day and are intended to reduce expenses related to overtime and extra trips.But postal workers in Nashville say DeJoy's new mandate is not practical and is having unintended consequences."Trucks leave empty," said Joe Jolley, a postal employee with the postal workers union in Nashville. "They leave completely empty. We pay a truck to travel to Memphis, a 53-foot truck with no mail on it."Piles of mail that, postal workers say, missed their intended transportsJolley said DeJoy's new policy does not allow a truck to be held up for even five minutes so it can be loaded with mail.
