BEIJING, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Monday called on health authorities to ensure safety in the production, storage, transportation, and inoculation process of the vaccines against A/H1N1 influenza, for the health of the public.     Li made the remarks when visiting the Beijing-based National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products, where the country's self-developed vaccines against the A/H1N1 flu are tested. Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang (C) gets to know the examining conditions of A/H1N1 flu vaccine during an inspection of the National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products in Beijing, capital of China, on Nov. 9, 2009. Li Keqiang inspected here on Monday, which further highlighted the government's resolve to carry on the influenza vaccination campaign amid the growing infections. "Safety and quality are of top priority," Li said, adding that the inoculation of the A/H1N1 vaccines should always be conducted on an "informed, voluntary, and free" basis.     Li noted that autumns and winters were high-occurrence seasons for the flu, and urged the authorities to improve disease prevention and treatment in order to stop the disease from fast spreading across the country.     Authorities should focus on disease prevention in key venues and areas, especially schools, and make active efforts to prevent and deal with mass infection of the disease, Li said. Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang (1st R, front) gets to know the production and price of A/H1N1 flu vaccine during an inspection of the National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products in Beijing, capital of China, on Nov. 9, 2009.They should also give stronger support to disease prevention in the central and western parts of the country, especially in the ethnic minority-dominated regions, Li said.     Li asked health workers to try their best to keep the disease's death toll from rising and add traditional Chinese medicines into the prevention and treatment of the flu.     As of Monday, the Chinese mainland has reported more than 60,000 cases of the A/H1N1 flu, of which 30 had been fatal. A total of 242 patients were in critical conditions, the Ministry of Health said.     As of Monday, the country has inoculated more than 87 million people with A/H1N1 vaccines. China is the world's first country to issue a production license for the vaccines against the A/H1N1 flu.

BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- China has vowed to maintain its macroeconomic policy stance in 2010 despite worries that its stimulus is likely to risk fueling new bubbles and overcapacity.     A meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee agreed Friday that the country will continue the proactive fiscal policy and moderately easy monetary policy next year.     "It is a must for the country to stick to the pro-growth policy stance," said Zhang Liqun, a researcher with the Development Research Center of the State Council, one of China's top think tanks.     "A guarantee to the 8-percent growth target this year does not mean the national economy has been on an independent and stable developing track," Zhang said.     Many uncertainties, both at home and abroad, still weighed on China's economy and it was quite necessary for the government to maintain its policy stance, said Feng Fei, a senior researcher at the Development Research Center of the State Council.     China's economic growth has approached its pre-crisis level a year after the adoption of the 4-trillion-yuan (585.6 billion U.S. dollars) economic stimulus package.     The country's economy grew 8.9 percent year on year in the third quarter this year, accelerating from 7.9 percent in the second quarter and 6.1 percent in the first quarter. In the third quarter last year, it increased 9 percent year on year.     However, the country's strategy has raised concern that loose money could inflate prices of stocks and housing, build up unneeded factories and saddle the economy with bad debts.     Although the current stimulus package had side effects, it was not the time for retreat, said Zhuang Jian, a senior economist with the Asian Development Bank.     The government should be aware of the hidden trauma in economic growth and be ready at all time for popping-up problems by improving the policy flexibility, he said.     It was important to enhance the flexibility and focus of macro regulation, considering the inflationary expectations, assets bubble risk and rapidly changing economic situation, Feng said.     The Political Bureau vowed to enhance the focus and flexibility of economic policy in the following year according to new situations. It would also further implement and enrich the economic stimulus package to make the economy grow in a more stable, balanced and sustainable way.     Bureau members agreed the government would maintain continuity and stability in its macroeconomic policies, according to a statement released after the meeting.     The barely-changed wording in the statement of the meeting, convened ahead of the annual Central Economic Work Conference, would set the tone for next year's economic work, said Wang Tongsan, a senior researcher with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.     He noted that the "five highlights" in the statement would be mid- and long-term strategy for economic and social development in China, which would enable the country to grab the opportunity during the crisis.     The country would step up efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of economic growth, to promote the transformation of the economic development pattern and structural adjustments and to promote innovation and reform and opening up to enhance the vigor and momentum of economic growth, the statement said.     It also urged more efforts to improve people's livelihood and maintain social stability, and to coordinate the domestic and international situation.

BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- China has told its enterprises to be prepared for competitions while the establishment of the Free Trade Area between the country and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is only a month ahead.     "Chinese enterprises should make full preparations for competitions brought by zero-tariff products imports from the ASEAN," Xu Ningning, executive secretary general of China-ASEAN Business Council(CABC), said on Wednesday at a symposium for entrepreneurs in machinery, auto mobile and steel sectors.     The upcoming FTA, scheduled to be established on Jan. 1, allows zero-tariff on 90 percent of products traded between China and the ASEAN.     Xu also urged Chinese enterprises to conduct adequate market research and pay close attention to the latest policies in different ASEAN countries to improve the quality and efficiency of bilateral trade.     "After entering the ASEAN market, companies should abide by local industry regulations and establish sound reputations for quality and service instead of blindly pursuing profit by any possible means," Xu said.     The establishment of the FTA will create massive business opportunities for Chinese enterprises as it will provide an access to the ASEAN market with 600 million population, according to Xu.     The FTA will boast a combined population of 1.9 billion and a combined gross domestic product (GDP) close to 6 trillion U.S. dollars, making it the third largest free trade area following the North American Free Trade Area and the European Free Trade Area.     CABC is one of the five main cooperation and dialogue organizations between China and the ASEAN, and it consists of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the ASEAN Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the national business leaders and enterprises and experts representatives from the ASEAN countries.
