ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) — California Gov. So back then, we could get traveling nurses, we could get registry nurses, we could hire more nurses locally," Van Gorder said. "Today, this is a national situation and we cannot recruit travelers, we cannot recruit registry nurses, and unfortunately, a number of our healthcare providers are also getting sick."Van Gorder said the county has 24 staffed ICU beds left, out of about 670 available. He added that as hospitals get full and resources are strained, the type of care for anyone needing hospital care will change to crisis care.The top two floors of the Escondido hospital have been set up to serve as an FMS site. The site includes 202 beds that can be used for patients that don't require ICU care. The site could take in patients from other county hospitals that become overwhelmed, Dr. Omar Khawaja, the Chief Medical Officer for Palomar Health, told ABC 10News a few weeks ago."It could be beds that we would offload some of the less sick patients from other systems into there so they can handle the sicker patients; we don’t have a solid plan for it yet," he said.California's cumulative ICU bed capacity hit 1.1% on Wednesday, with the Southern California region at 0%. Three other regions were also under the state's regional stay-at-home orders activated after a region dips under 15% ICU capacity.San Diego County reported 348 coronavirus ICU cases on Wednesday and an additional 2,598 COVID-19 cases.Van Gorder said the county and hospitals project that hospitalizations will continue to grow and peak on Jan. 10, 2021, with about 1,827 patients, and ICU cases will peak on Jan. 11, with about 483 patients."Today, the governor announced the federal medical station at Palomar Medical Center is going to be activated. The company gave CNNMoney a sneak peek last week — and there's a lot that it brings to the table.It offers thousands of hours of live sports that aren't available on national TV, including, soccer, boxing, golf, rugby, cricket, and a baseball and hockey game or two every day of the MLB and NHL seasons.It has a few exclusives, too, including some episodes of the lauded ESPN documentary series "30 for 30" — plus that show's entire back catalog. There's also Kobe Bryant's new basketball analysis show "Detail," which premieres just in time for the NBA playoffs.That all adds up to a ton of content, and it's hard not to feel a bit overwhelmed by the variety. ESPN executives sounded downright breathless last week as they rattled off the number of programs they are bringing to the service."I, personally, am incredibly excited about the potential," new ESPN President Jimmy Pitaro told reporters at the company's Connecticut headquarters. Pitaro made it pretty clear that he didn't expect customers to treat the new service as a standalone, and described it as "complementary and additive to what you've been getting."Pitaro added that ESPN+ wasn't designed to compete with distributors like Comcast, AT&T and Dish Network's Sling TV that offer cable bundles. All of those companies sell packages that include ESPN's TV channels.All of the ESPN+ content is integrated into a newly redesigned ESPN app, which you can download for your phone or streaming device. It works on all the major platforms, including iPhone, Android, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire.I tested an iPhone version that subscribed to ESPN's TV channels and ESPN+, and it was easy to pull up live games, replays and other clips playing on any of the main ESPN channels or the add-on service. A tab that features game scores for all of my favorite teams was an added bonus.The Apple TV version of the app was just as simple to use, and even allowed me to watch up to four events simultaneously. ESCONDIDO, Calif., (KGTV)-- Residents in Escondido shared their concerns Wednesday about the flooding on Country Club Drive.Neighbors said after every rain event, the street floods and closes, which creates not only an inconvenience but a safety hazard. There is no stop sign on Country Club Drive. But Jason Farr is at a stand-still. "I can't get in and out of our neighborhood," Farr said. Farr's concern is that Country Club Drive is the only way in and out of his community."If emergency crews need to get here… If there are a couple of feet of water on top of the bridge, that's one thing, but if there's more like I saw yesterday, they just won't be able to get in and out," Farr said. He said he has several elderly neighbors who no longer have the strength or speed to evacuate at once. The flooding also trap his children from getting to school. "We have to be constantly be deciding if we want to bring our kids to school. Because I do not feel comfortable dropping my kids off to school and them not being able to be picked up," Farr said. While the water receded overnight, by 8:30 AM Wednesday the water crested back over the road. Farr said his neighbors told him that the severity of the problem got much worse as new developments sprouted into the once lonely neighborhood. FALLBROOK, Calif. (KGTV) -- A 60-year-old man died after crashing his motorcycle in Fallbrook early Sunday morning, according to California Highway Patrol. CHP says the man was driving east on Mission Road when he began to weave before striking a curb and tumbling down an embankment just after 1 a.m. According to CHP, someone gave the man CPR, but he died at the scene. CHP says the San Diego County Medical Examiner will determine whether or not a medical condition played a role in the crash. 505

FALLBROOK (CNS) - A 14-year-old Fallbrook High School student was arrested today for allegedly making an online threat to carry out a shooting at the northern San Diego County campus, authorities reported.The teen was taken into custody early Wednesday afternoon in connection with the menacing social media post, which came to light Monday evening and included a photograph of a gun, according to sheriff's officials.``No weapons were found at the juvenile's residence, and it is believed the suspect had no intention of actually following through with a shooting,'' Sgt.
