At the age of 22, Purdue University graduate Andrew Hoyler accomplished his goal of becoming a pilot. But in doing so, his debt took off. It's something anyone who gets a refund can do, whether it's for student loans, car payments or credit cards. “For many Americans, the biggest windfall they get all year is a tax refund, so this time of year, that is a great opportunity to really take out a big chunk of your debt,” says Arielle Oshea, a personal finance expert with NerdWallet. Oshea says for Americans struggling with debt, taking small steps like cutting cable, skipping eating out or not going shopping can add up.“Small amounts seem like they're going to be a drop in the bucket compared to your debt balance in many cases. But when you add them together and you make a cut here and make a cut there, and you maybe bring in some extra income, all of that adds up and it can very quickly lead to you being able to make bigger payments on your debt every month,” Oshea says. ABBOTT PARK, Ill. – As the coronavirus continues to spread and the need for more testing grows with it, labs across the U.S. are racing to get approval for their tests for COVID-19. The company Abbott is one of them. “Abbott was able to get an emergency use authorization for a new test, molecular test for the SARS-coronavirus-2,” said John Hackett, Jr., the Divisional Vice President of Applied Research and Technology at Abbott. Researchers inside their Illinois lab created a test that can be used with the company’s testing system, called “m2000 RealTime.” That’s key because the company says that system is already widely available in hospitals and testing labs around the country. “These are in hospitals and academic centers and this is where the test volume is,” Hackett said. The speed in regulatory approval from the FDA for the test was unprecedented. The company said that, normally, it can take several years to get a test approved; this one happened in a matter of weeks. Their testing system can run through 470 patient tests per day. “This is a massive impact when you think about trying to get results back to the physicians,” Hackett said. “This is actionable information - either a person's infected or they're not.” About 150,000 tests are now on their way to hospitals and labs in 18 states – including New York, California and Washington – some of the hardest hit by COVID-19. The company plans to be producing a million tests a week by the end of this month. Other companies, including those in California and Texas, have similar authorizations from the FDA and are hoping to provide more tests. “The key thing here is to get to a point where we can change the trajectory, reduce the trajectory, reduce the number of new infections that are occurring,” Hackett said.It’s a change they hope might put a dent in the coronavirus pandemic. 1872

She says Holly is one of the most helpful employees on staff. “It’s really fast and helps us with the speed a lot,” she says.The creator behind this artificial intelligence technology is Valyant. Rob Carpenter, the CEO of the company, says as jobs evolve and change, new jobs become available. As with most new technology, Carpenter says they’re still working out all the kinks. “It’s almost understanding the almost infinite ways to that people can ask for a cheeseburger,” Carpenter explains. “There are also the different accents you have to content with and the background noises.” While customers find the idea of Holly fun, their still unsure. “It was awkward,” says one customer. “And humans are just better and more responsive and talkative.” Carpenter admits Holly isn't the perfect employee, but he says in the next five years, you will see more robots at big name stores and fast-food restaurants."Right now, this is ground zero handling drive through,” he says. “Eventually, we are going to start seeing it in more tangible ways, where it can actually carry on a more fluid conversation."
