The U.S. experienced its largest single-day increase in new COVID-19 cases on Thursday according to figures from Johns Hopkins University.Johns Hopkins public database reports that about 40,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus were reported to local health departments on Thursday. The topics to be discussed during the first presidential debate next week include “the integrity of the election,” according to the official list released Tuesday by the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates.President Donald Trump and Former Vice President Joe Biden will face-off for the first time on September 29 in Cleveland. The Tampa Police Department is searching for a young man who was caught on camera doing a skateboard trick across a custom-painted car in Ybor City.A spokesperson for the police department said the case is being investigated as a felony criminal mischief. Detectives would like to speak with Dalton Newbury as a person of interest. According to those who have shared the video that's getting thousands of shares on Facebook, it was originally posted to Instagram by the skateboarder himself. From a massive derecho in Iowa, to wildfires in the Western United States along with hurricanes striking the Gulf Coast, severe weather has taken a toll on the country.This has especially been true for the American Red Cross.The Red Cross said on Friday that recent events have caused the Red Cross to cancel 100 blood drives, resulting in 2,700 blood platelet and plasma donations being lost. This has also had an impact on other blood collection centers, the Red Cross said.Amid the pandemic, the Red Cross said that its process is safe, and that it will take precautions to avoid spreading germs. Red Cross staff will be wearing gloves, routinely wiping down donor-touched areas, using sterile collection sets for every donation, and preparing the arm for donation with an aseptic scrub.You can make an appointment to donate blood by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).To give blood, people can donate once every 56 days, must be in good health and feeling well, be at least age 16, and weigh 110 pounds, depending on height. The Seattle Seahawks postponed a workout with free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick after Kaepernick declined to stop kneeling during the national anthem, ESPN reports.According to ESPN, the Seahawks contacted the former 49ers quarterback two weeks ago to arrange a workout. However, the meeting was canceled at the last minute over the constroversial protest.Kaepernick began kneeling for the national anthem during the 2016 preseason, saying he was hoping to bring attention to police brutality. He continued his protest through the 2016 season, and his contract with the 49ers was not extended following the season.Kaepernick has not played since the 2016, though he is still a free agent and can be signed by any team. In October, Kaepernick filed a grievance against the NFL alleging the owners colluded to blackball him from the league. He was deposed by the league in connection with his complaint earlier this week.Kaepernick's former teammate and fellow free agent Eric Reid was also reportedly asked by Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown about kneeling during the anthem during a workout with the team.
