SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police say they have arrested a 23-year-old man in a fatal shooting in the East Village this week.Tyler Cosby of San Diego was arrested on Thursday for the murder of a 37-year-old man shot to death outside a downtown parking garage on Tuesday, according to SDPD.The victim, a 37-year-old white male who has yet to be publicly identified by police, was found in the area of 14th and G streets shortly after 10 p.m. Officers responding to several reports of gunshots arrived to find the man lying on the sidewalk at `1400 G St., near a parking garage entrance.The victim had at least one gunshot wound, according to police. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SANDAG and Caltrans are warning people about an overnight closure on Interstate 5 beginning Thursday night for work on the Mid-Coast Trolley Bridge. Starting February 28 at 9:30 p.m., all southbound lanes on Interstate 5 will be closed from the interchange of I-5 and I-805 to La Jolla Village Drive. All lanes are scheduled to reopen on March 1 at 5 a.m. The lanes will be closed so crews can pour concrete to construct the structure for the Trolley overpass spanning I-5 at Voigt Drive. SANDAG says traffic signs have been posted in the area detailing the detour motorists can take. The Mid-Coast Trolley Project will extend the Blue Line Trolley service from Old Town north to University City. Nine new stations will also be constructed. 769

By Monday, she could be out of a job due to Newsom’s new orders.Pekary is a full-time student at San Diego State University, hostessing to save up to eventually move out of her parent’s house.Her latest obstacle from the state is Newsom’s regional shutdown order, limiting restaurants to takeout or delivery only. The order also forces bars and wineries to close amid COVID-19.“I had a couple people who during the first shutdown they actually moved back to Bay Area because they were living here and just because they were out of a job they had to live with their families,” Pekary added.Unlike the first shutdown in March of 2020, there is no federal stimulus to cushion the fall. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Several San Diego chefs will try and set the world record for most pieces of sushi made in 48 hours this month.Sushi Festival San Diego will see Chef Jeff Roberto and several others try to produce 100,000 pieces of sushi in 48 hours, from Oct. 26 to Oct. 28.Roberto, who owns Sushi On A Roll, says the feat has been in the works for a while now.RELATED: San Diego is among top 'foodie cities' in America, report says"This has been a long time coming. Sushi On A Roll will set the world record of sushi made in 48 hours," Robert wrote in an email. "I'm excited to have my friends in the industry to be a part of this and to make this happen."Tickets for the event range from 0 - 5, including intimate omakase experiences from featured chefs and VIP tickets including all-you-can-eat dining — because there will definitely be plenty to go around. A variety of local taiko groups and other performers will also provide live entertainment during the event.Profits from the event will benefit the Friends of Rollo nonprofit, which take youth fishing and educates them about the ocean ecosystem. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Seven people were hospitalized Tuesday after two multi-vehicle crashes on Interstate 5 in the Torrey Pines area.The crashes were reported on southbound I-5 near State route 56 just before 1 p.m. Two car crashes — one four-car crash and one three-car crash — occurred in the area, forcing a complete shut down of I-5 for about an hour, according to California Highway Patrol officer Jim Bettencourt.At one point, the CHP's incident log listed as many as a dozen vehicles possibly involved in the crash. The two crashes caused a traffic backup extending to Loma Santa Fe Dr. in Solana Beach.Seven people were taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital with moderate injuries, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesperson Mónica Mu?oz.The cause of the crashes was not immediately known. 805
