San Diego Unified School Board president and math teacher Kevin Beiser will introduce a resolution at Tuesday night's meeting demanding action from state and federal lawmakers pass stricter gun control laws."It's an opportunity for us parents students and teachers to speak in unison and call on our elected officials to do what we know is right and implement reasonable gun reform now, said Beiser ahead of the meeting. The board did something similar after the Sandy Hook school shooting back in 2012 but Beiser thinks it's worth stating again. And although it's not included in the resolution, Beiser expects the issue of arming teachers to come up at the meeting.Last week President Trump said he favored arming teachers to protect students. 763
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A lawyer for the man who styled the hair of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says he believes she was set up when she went to a San Francisco salon that wasn't permitted to have indoor services because of the coronavirus pandemic. Pelosi is facing backlash after Fox News Channel aired footage showing the speaker walking through the salon without a mask on. But a lawyer for the stylist says the owner gave permission for the appointment and made “vitriolic and incendiary comments" about Pelosi. Messages seeking comment from the owner weren't immediately returned. 595

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- COVID-19 is causing some changes for voters in San Diego county. Your usual polling location may not be active for the November elections.“Because of the pandemic, it has created a level of uncertainty in our universe,” says Registrar of Voter Michael Vu.Vu says to ensure physical distancing the county has consolidated the 1,600 small voting precincts into 235 super poll locations for voters to cast their ballots.“We just want to make sure everyone does it in a safe and healthy way.”Vu says they will be expanding the technology at each site with the ballot marking machines introduced during the primary elections back in March.“There will be, on average, 7 of those ballot marking devices per super polls location,” says Vu. “But we will also be having a number of voting booths because we will have pre-printed paper ballots for voters.”To help with social distancing and the influx of voters, there will be seven different check-in stations at each site to move people along. On Thursday, the Registrar of Voters office will be sending out sample ballots and voter information pamphlets. Those packets will contain each voter’s designated super poll location. The super poll locations will be open for voting starting October 31st.Michael Vu says the mail-in ballots will be sent out on October 5th. 1332

One witness said they saw the two men running towards a nearby parking lot and getting into a red car. Police don't have a suspect description since the suspects were wearing masks. SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) - An East County woman was devastated to find out the money she spent to buy a new cat likely went to con artists.“I just felt like I lost my sense of love for humanity,” Suzi Moon told Team 10. Moon’s Maine Coon cat, Teka, recently passed away. She was 15-years-old and a longtime member of her family.“He was the best cat ever,” Moon said. When he died, she was heartbroken.“I was in an emotional mode,” Moon said. “I wanted to get another one because I just was so used to that cat.”Moon searched online and found a website that advertised pure Maine Coone cats. She emailed the website and got a response. “They emailed me back and this cat that I saw on the website was a gray cat. Beautiful,” she said. She also spoke to someone on the phone, who sounded legitimate. The man asked her questions, such as whether or not she was having the cat indoors and if she was declawing the cat. Moon eventually scraped up 0 and sent the money through Zelle, something she now regrets. The day the supposed seller was supposed to ship the cat to her, he asked for more money for a special crate. “We need to have you cash app, send ,000 more,” Moon said. After back and forth with the seller and refusing to pay more, Moon said they eventually blocked her number. The 0 she paid was gone. The website, puremainecoons.com, is no longer active. Team 10 found the website on petscams.com, a site that bills itself as a pet watchdog website. The Better Business Bureau said pets are the top scam when it comes to online purchases. The average loss is 0. Moon wanted to share her mistake with others in hopes nobody else falls victim to this scam.“I just felt violated. There [are] people out there taking advantage like that. It’s disgusting,” Moon said.Team 10 called the person Moon said she spoke with about the cat. That man hung up before answering any questions. The BBB suggests do not buy a pet without seeing it in person. The organization also recommends conducting an internet search of the photo. If you see the same picture on different websites, it could be fraud. 2112
