FREDERICK, Colo. -- A Frederick husband and father is behind bars in the Weld County Jail, booked early Thursday morning for the disappearance of his pregnant wife and two young daughters.According to two law enforcement officials, Christopher Watts, 33, has confessed to killing Shanann?Watts, 34, and their two daughters — 3-year-old Celeste and 4-year-old Bella. Officials believe they know where the bodies are.Watts and her daughters were reported missing out of Frederick on Monday. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued a missing-endangered alert for the three on Tuesday. A day later, the Federal Bureau of Investigation joined in the search.Just after midnight Thursday, an official with the Frederick Police Department said they had made an arrest "in connection to the missing person's case" involving Shanann Watts and her two girls. Officials said they were awaiting charges for the suspect, who will be held at the Weld County Jail for the time being.Police declined to comment further on the investigation. Watts was 15 weeks pregnant. For the fifth straight year, Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench celebrated Thanksgiving together — though the yearly tradition this year was marked by grief.Hinton, 21, and Dench, 63, first met in 2016, when Dench mistakenly texted Hinton while trying to reach her grandson about plans for Thanksgiving. Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort on Monday gave up his effort to challenge special counsel Robert Mueller in civil court.Manafort has withdrawn his appeal of a judge's decision to throw out his civil lawsuit against Mueller, according to court filings."It is hereby stipulated and agreed by and between the parties that the (case) be voluntarily dismissed," the new filing said.Manafort filed the initial lawsuit in January against Mueller, the Justice Department and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein,?who appointed Mueller as special counsel. A federal judge?dismissed the case in April, saying that the civil proceedings were "not the appropriate vehicle" for Manafort to try to chip away at Mueller's authority.In her ruling, federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson told Manafort to pursue his grievances against Mueller during his criminal proceedings. Manafort then asked the federal appeals court in Washington, DC, to review her decision.The decision to drop the appeal comes one day before Manafort's criminal trial is scheduled to begin in Virginia federal court. Manafort is accused of financial crimes, including bank fraud and tax evasion, relating to his lobbying work for the government of Ukraine. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Jury selection begins Tuesday.The unsuccessful civil lawsuit sought, among other things, to prevent Mueller from bringing additional charges in the future, including potential charges relating to Manafort's work on the Trump campaign. President Donald Trump and Manafort have both said there was no collusion.Manafort has used similar arguments to challenge his indictments in Virginia and Washington. Professors from Georgetown University teach fellows, who can earn a certificate of business administration from Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies.Ogilvie said she found out about six minutes before Obama and Biden arrived that they were coming. She gathered the current 13 fellows and said they would have a team meeting and surprised them when the 44th President of the United States and his Veep walked in.Obama and Biden met the fellows, took selfies with them and talked to them about their future business plans for about 20 to 30 minutes. They also grabbed a bite to eat.If it wasn't for the fact they were once leaders of the free world, "it would seem like two friends coming together to have lunch," Ogilvie said.They ordered ham and gruyère sandwiches.
