SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego City Council voted unanimously Monday to expand city-imposed curfews on five local parks in North Park, City Heights and near Balboa Park. The vote will establish a midnight-to-6 a.m. curfew at Cedar Ridge Mini Park, Montclair Neighborhood Park, North Park Community Park and North Park Mini Park and a 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew at City Heights Square Mini Park. The council added curfews to the five parks after residents expressed concerns about people breaking the law after-hours on park grounds. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Santa Ana winds and low humidity levels will keep the risk of wildfire high across the San Diego area into Tuesday, as they did for much of last week.To alert the public to the combustion hazards posed by the gusty and arid conditions, the National Weather Service issued a red flag wildfire warning for local mountain and western-valleys communities, effective through 10 p.m. Tuesday. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The city of San Diego will begin enforcing parking regulations again starting Oct. 1 with a two-week grace period before full enforcement Oct. 15.The city temporarily suspended parking enforcement on March 16 following the COVID-19 stay-at-home order. Multiple attempts in the following months to reinforce parking regulations have been thwarted by ongoing shutdown orders.In developing a plan to restart parking enforcement, city staff consulted with several business groups representing communities across San Diego.Starting Thursday, the city will issue written warnings for vehicles parked in violation of:-- Posted street sweeping routes-- Metered parking restrictions-- Curb time limits-- Commercial zonesCitations will continue to be issued for vehicles parked illegally at red, white and blue painted curbs. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Some people making emergency calls to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department on Verizon phones experienced problems connecting with dispatchers for part of the day Tuesday.It was not immediately clear what was preventing 911 operators from hearing certain -- but not all -- calls made on the Verizon network, sheriff's public-affairs Lt. Karen Stubkjaer said.The regional law enforcement agency worked with the telecommunications company to determine the source of the problem, Stubkjaer said.Officials advised anyone having trouble being heard by a sheriff's dispatcher to hang up, after which the emergency operator will immediately call back.The connection problems were tending to go away on the return calls, Stubkjaer said.By mid-afternoon, the New York-based wireless carrier had identified and resolved the problem, according to Stubkjaer.A Verizon spokesperson did not immediately return a call seeking comment on the issue. 962
