But this year has brought a kind of uncertainty, unique to anything he’s faced before."By February, it just cratered to almost zero at all in terms of requests for even any information at all," Haas said. “It was, it was scary.”This time of year, people travel from all over to have Haas lead them on multi-day horseback tours through the Montana wilderness, usually."We have very few customers from the east or west coast, California in particular, we are seeing almost nothing from California," Haas said.Haas' business is located in Choteau, Montana, a town with a population of about 1,700 people. Summer is usually the busy season in the community, which located along the shortest route between Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park.“I would think that we’ve probably had at least 95% of the events we had booked canceled and reservation-wise," said Barb Bouma, who owns the Stage Stop Inn in Choteau.The American Hotel and Lodging Association says hotel occupancy levels might not recover until 2022 nationwide. Bouma doesn’t know if her hotel will make it that far.“It’s not sustaining itself. How long we can go, yeah I’m not sure," Bouma said.Like many business owners in the pandemic, Haas has had to cut back."Right now, I have one person. Normally, I would have two or three in the summer," Haas said about the number of employees he has getting gear ready for his trips.He says reservations for his business have started to pick up again. He also says reservations for hunting trips he offers are booked years in advance and have held steady.As Haas starts to lead people back into the wild to show off the rugged uncertainty of “Big Sky County,” he hopes the struggles he’s faced this year stay unique to 2020.“There’s so much more known about the coronavirus now," Haas said. TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) - Two people in a Utah-registered truck crashed into vendors and other vehicles on the Tijuana side of the U.S.-Mexico border at the San Ysidro Port of Entry Monday, Televisa reported. Two people in a black Chevy truck with Utah license plates started a fight with a pedestrian about 3 p.m. at Boulevard Gral Manuel Márquez de León and Paseo de los Héroes, according to Televisa, which cited Tijuana Police Chief Mario Martinez. Minutes after the fight, the suspects drove to the border crossing where they struck more than 15 vehicles waiting to cross into the United States and ran over 15 vendors, the news agency reported. The suspects were a man and woman, possibly American, Televisa report. The two were arrested and taken to the hospital. TORREY PINES, Calif. (KGTV) - The Massachusetts Institute of Technology just named a minor planet after a San Diego teenager who recently completed research that could assist in future droughts. The Cambridge School freshman Emily Tianshi was also awarded ,000 from here work in the prestigious National Broadcam MASTERS Competition in Washington, D.C.  “I was absolutely shocked,” said the 14-year-old.Tainshi began studying the needles on Torrey Pines as an eighth grader to see how the trees continue to withstand droughts.  She said the needles are uniquely designed to pull moisture from the air and condense it into water for its own needs.Her research won science fairs in San Diego and California.  It earned her an invitation to the weeklong Broadcom MASTERS where she competed with and against students from all over the nation.Tianshi walked away with the second largest prize in the country.She said she wants to continue her research and eventually “turn into an engineering project where I build a device replicating the Torrey Pine Needle.”The teenager said her ultimate goal is to become a Stanford-educated doctor. 1162

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta shut down both locations of its overnight summer camp after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.Since then, other campers and staff have tested positive.The local YMCA says Camp High Harbour learned a counselor at its Lake Burton location tested positive for coronavirus on June 24.The counselor was immediately sent home, and camp leaders decided to close the Camp High Harbour campgrounds there and at Lake Allatoona.The Georgia Department of Public Health says at least 30 confirmed cases of the virus have been identified from camps at those lakes.The local YMCA notes the camp worked with the CDC and the American Camp Association when it was reopening the camp amid the pandemic. 730
