Gap and Old Navy have been trending in opposite directions for years. So they're finally splitting up.Gap said Thursday that it would break into two companies. One of the companies will contain Old Navy, while the other yet-to-be-named business, currently called NewCo, will comprise Gap, Banana Republic and other brands, including Athleta and Hill City.The move is designed to allow Old Navy — which has grown to billion in annual sales since it opened its first store in 1994 — to expand on its own. HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A man in Florida has been arrested after he admitted to critically injuring a newborn that was under his care after the baby woke him up shortly after a recent feeding, deputies say. Aaron James Bordelon, 29, has been charged with Felony Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm. The 16-day-old child is in critical condition, suffering from skull fractures and severe traumatic brain injury. Bordelon told deputies he "forcefully" picked up the baby and admitted "this is my fault." Shortly after picking up the child he said the child's physical condition deteriorated, breathing slowed and bruising under the eyes and on the eyelids was visible. Bordelon did not call for immediate medical attention at the time, according to the Sheriff's Office. When the newborn's mother arrived at their location, Bordelon ordered a Lyft ride share and took the child to Brandon Regional Hospital. According to a press release, Bordelon attempted to conceal the bruising on the newborn with makeup but the mother tried to remove it before they arrived at the emergency room, according to deputies. "Abuse in any form is unacceptable and this case is especially tragic and emotionally difficult for our detectives as it involves an innocent and defenseless child" said Sheriff Chad Chronister. 1355

FORT THOMAS, Kentucky — Thirteen-year-old Lilliana Schalck, who died unexpectedly this past weekend, was a flyer, her father said. At just 4-feet-10-inches and 80 pounds, the cheerleader was perfectly suited to being tossed into the air by her teammates, topping their human pyramids and landing safely.“Everybody liked her,” father Dan Schalck said. “She was supportive on the mat. Doing her thing, she was fierce, but when it comes to anyone else, she was very supportive.”Doctors still don’t know exactly what happened to the eighth-grader Saturday. Her father was waiting to watch her perform in a Columbus cheer competition when she told her teammates she had begun to feel sick. Her limbs tingled; she felt weak.Dehydration, Dan thought at first. Maybe anxiety, although she had never struggled with that before. The team called an ambulance, and Lilliana was alert enough on the ride to respond to questions. Doctors ferried her from the ambulance to the emergency room to intensive care. Whatever happened, they couldn’t stop it. Less than two hours after she had begun to feel sick, she was gone.“At one point, the medical staff said, ‘If anyone’s close to her, you need to call them,’” her father said. “And I’m like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me. How can this be?’”He still doesn’t know. But Monday night, the wound still fresh, he was comforted by the Highland Heights community’s outpouring of love and support for his strong-willed, high-flying daughter.She was a middle school student, but she was talented enough to compete with high schoolers.
