According to police, the incident happened just before 8 p.m. at the intersection of Ruffin Road and Village Glen Drive near the Village Glen Apartments. Police say the woman was crossing the street when she was struck by a 16-year-old driver. The woman was rushed to the hospital with major injuries. The teen remained at the scene after the crash. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A car traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into a tree and power pole in the College Area late Sunday night, leaving nearly 2,000 residents without power.At around 11:45 p.m., San Diego police’s ABLE helicopter spotted and began following a car that was running several red lights and driving fast.As SDPD units were called to the car’s location, the vehicle lost control and slammed into a tree and then a power pole in the 4700 block of 54th Street.ABC 10News learned the transformer on the power pole was damaged, causing a power outage in the immediate area for a brief period.The driver got out of the wreckage and fled the scene, but officers tracked him down a short time later and took him into custody.Police learned the car involved had been reported stolen.No other details were released. 832

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A dog was rescued and reunited with his owner after getting into the water off Sunset Cliffs Sunday.The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said the dog somehow got into the water but could not get back to its owner, prompting two lifeguards to spring into action.The lifeguards helped pull the dog onto a rescue board and brought him safely back to shore.The dog was not hurt.Lifeguards said the area is known to be dangerous for dogs. 460
