Motorcycle land speed record holder Valerie Thompson survived a 343-mph crash while attempting to break the overall two-wheel record in Australia on Monday, according to Fox News.According to the report, the 49-year-old Thompson was going for the record at the Lake Gairdner World Speed Trials "when something went wrong during her run and the bike fell onto its side, digging a deep trench into the salt flats and spreading wreckage over a mile."Thompson's "Bub 7" motorcycle reportedly lifted off the ground, with its parachutes eventually allowing it to come to a complete stop. Thompson told Fox News that she's "doing OK" and is headed back to Scottsdale to determine what went wrong.Thompson earned the title of world's fastest female motorcycle racer when she topped out at 304.263 mph at the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials in 2016. Known as "America's Queen of Speed," Thompson has won a number of racing awards and was featured in the 2013 documentary "Why We Ride." She is a vehicle presenter at Barrett-Jackson Auction Company and Metro Auto Auctions in Scottsdale, Arizona.  1148

More than 40 percent of nonsmokers feel they should get 3-5 extra vacation days, according to a survey.E-cigarette maker Halo surveyed over 1,000 employed Americans about how fair they feel smoke breaks really are.Twenty-eight percent of smokers also felt that nonsmokers should be given three to five extra vacation days. However, the majority of smokers, 38 percent, didn't think nonsmokers should be given extra vacation days at all.The survey found that the average smoker spends roughly six days each year on smoke breaks at work. On average, Americans would give up smoking for 11 extra vacation days each year. Americans also believed companies should offer incentives for employees to quit smoking.The survey comes after nonsmoking employees at a Japanese agency received an additional six days of paid vacation time.  844

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says he’s concerned after seeing video of police using a stunning and arresting?a Milwaukee Bucks player Sterling Brown.The video is expected to be released soon, possible later this week. Police are reportedly bracing for backlash from the release of that video. This incident took place on the south side of Milwaukee in January. Police were called to a Walgreens because Brown was illegally parked across two handicap spaces. The officers say they tried to talk to Brown but had to deploy their stun guns to arrest him. Since that time, the arrest has been the subject of a police internal investigation."I have some of the same concerns that the chief has expressed over the video. I'm going to let the release of that speak for itself, but yes, I definitely have concerns after watching that video,” Barrett said. The mayor indicated that Police Chief Alfonso Morales had a similar reaction after seeing the video. Brown was not charged in the incident. Multiple fire departments are fighting a massive house fire in Chandler early Thursday morning. An official at the scene near says the fire started around 3 a.m. local time in a second-story bedroom. Three residents of the multi-million-dollar property were able to get out safely, but they are now displaced.Video from the scene showed the blaze engulfing the home and huge smoke plumes billowing from the home. More details are coming out about Rudy Giuliani’s scenes in the upcoming “Borat” film, featuring comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. Earlier this summer, Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney and former mayor of New York City, called police after the incident.Reviews of Cohen’s movie, “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” appeared online Wednesday ahead of its Friday release on Amazon Prime. Vanity Fair and The Guardian describe the scene with Giuliani in more detail, in which he agrees to an interview with a young woman in her hotel room.Cohen’s co-star in the movie, Maria Bakalova, is posing as a journalist and sets up an interview with Giuliani. They meet in a hotel room, “where he holds her hands, compliments her appearance, and follows her to the bedroom. She spends some time elaborately taking off their microphones; briefly, he lies down on the bed. His hand is in his pants,” writes Sonia Saraiya with Vanity Fair.The Guardian says Giuliani follows her to the bedroom to have a drink and “can be seen lying back on the bed, fiddling with his untucked shirt and reaching into his trousers.”At which point, Cohen runs into the room in character, and yells “She’s 15. She’s too old for you.” Bakalova’s character is 15 in the movie, she’s 24 in real life.Giuliani posted on Twitter Wednesday afternoon, saying the video was "complete fabrication. I was tucking in my shirt after taking off the recording equipment. At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate.
