GUANGZHOU, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Southern Guangdong Province launched the pilot real-name ticket system Thursday morning amid China's efforts to curb ticket hoarding by scalpers.China's first real-name ticket was booked at 7:03 a.m. by phone, confirmed the ticket booking system of Guangzhou Railway Group (GRG), operator of the province's railways. The ticket, priced at 423 yuan (61.96 U.S. dollars), was for a hard berth on a train coded K446 scheduled for Jan. 30, running from south China's Shenzhen City to northwestern Xi'an City. The real-name system covers tickets of trains scheduled for the 40-day Spring Festival travel peak starting from Jan. 30. These tickets are now available as travellers can book 10 days in advance by phone.Travellers are able to dial hot lines to book tickets and get them from wickets in railway stations or ticket agencies before midnight the day after the booking. The traveller only need to follow automated voice instructions and dial in necessary information. After the booking is accepted and processed in a computerized database, the automated voice system will issue a booking code. With the code and ID card at hand, the traveller can get his ticket from wickets in railway stations or ticket agencies."This procedure is expected to prevent long queues at the windows because most of the communication is made on phone," said Huang Xin, head of GRG's passenger transport section. The National Development and Reform Commission forecast some 210 million train trips during the Spring Festival rush, a year-on-year rise of 9.5 percent. The real-name system has drawn much attention in China. It still needs to be seen whether the system can effectively curb ticket hoarding. There are also worries that the newly introduced ID checks may paralyze railway stations because of the heavy workload involved.GRG will hold a press conference at around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday to reveal more details on the system.

BEIJING, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Access to finance for China's small enterprises generally improved in 2009, but still was not good enough, said the country's top banking regulator on Tuesday.Outstanding loans to small Chinese enterprises added to 5.8 trillion yuan (849 billion U.S. dollars) as of the end of 2009, China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) said in a statement posted on its website. The figure accounted for 22 percent of total corporate loans by the end of last year, 1 percentage point higher than a year ago, said the CBRC.The CBRC data showed that the growth rate of new loans to small enterprises in 2009 was 5.5 percentage points higher than that of the total corporate lendings and 0.61 percentage higher than all lendings.China has set a target of keeping the growth rate of new small business loans higher than that of all loans in 2010, and the amount of new loans should be bigger than the previous year, said the CBRC."Small enterprises" in China refers to those with assets worth less than 10 million yuan or annual sales less than 30 million yuan, according to a CBRC document.Last December, China promised to help improve the financing mechanisms to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as they were worst hit by the financial crisis and have had difficulty securing loans as commercial lenders preferred state-owned enterprises and large key projects, as the risk was not as great.SMEs refers to enterprises whose annual business revenue is below 300 million yuan. But in retail and accommodation industry, the maximum annual business revenue is 150 million yuan for an SME.

BEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The threat of inflation to China's economy is less worrisome compared with asset bubble, economists said Saturday at the China Development Forum 2010.China's economy is facing a new round of growth in the coming two years, but the risks of inflation and asset bubble remain, said Fan Gang, secretary general of the China Reform Foundation.Compared with inflation, tackling asset bubble is of greater importance because asset bubble, as one of the causes for this round of global financial crisis, is more dangerous, Fan said. He expected the country's economy to grow 8 to 9 percent this year in a "normal growth."Growth in China's property prices is accelerating and approaching an alarming level, said Nomura Holdings Inc. chairman Junichi Ujiie.Despite government measures to curb property prices, China's property market grew at its fastest pace in 20 months in February, with housing prices in 70 major cities rising 10.7 percent from a year ago.
