SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A new social media trend is hoping to help local food places hit hard by this COVID-19 pandemic.Currently, restaurants in the county are only allowed to serve food through take-out, delivery, or drive-thru service. Some restaurants have had to close altogether, not able to afford to keep their doors open. For those businesses trying to stay open, the community is lending its support through #takeoutchallenge.Sports Director Ben Higgins called it the easiest challenge in history. “All you have to do is go order take out from one of your local restaurants,” he said in a video posted to Twitter. Ben ordered food from Buona Forchetta in Encinitas.Others also chimed in on social media.Jason tweeted that he ordered from Mama Kat’s in San Marcos for the first time. On Twitter, Ed gave a shout out to Firehouse Subs in Kearny Mesa and said he ordered twice there this past week. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Minnesota man suspected of possessing child pornography may be in San Diego, according to the San Diego Police Department.Jamison Michael Nelson, 40, was the focus of a news release issued Monday to alert the public.San Diego Police did not release details about the charges, but information from DL-online.com indicated a man named Jamison Michael Nelson was charged with six felony counts of possessing pornographic works on a computer.The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received an alert from Google indicating that three images which may have been child pornography had been uploaded to a Gmail account, according to the report.DL-online.com reported that a search of Nelson’s residence turned up a hard drive hidden in a coffee pot.San Diego Police did not indicate why they believe Nelson may be in our area.He is white, six-feet tall, 185 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. 934

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man was hospitalized after becoming stuck in a cargo elevator shaft at a downtown grocery store.San Diego Fire-Rescue was called to Ralph's grocery store on G St. just after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday to a report of someone stuck in the elevator. Crews arrived to find a man who had been working on the elevator trapped in the elevator shaft.Firefighters worked to free the man and take him to a nearby hospital. The extent of his injuries wasn't immediately known.A witness who works at the grocery store said the man was working on the cargo shaft when someone pressed the elevator button, trapping the man inside. 640
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego County sheriff’s deputy was arrested and charged with multiple sex crimes involving minors.Chula Vista police said they received anonymous tips via Crime Stoppers on April 9, 2020, “regarding an unidentified adult male suspect, who engaged in sex acts with an underage victim. Investigators were able to identify the suspect and also determine that there were two additional underage victims.”During the probe, investigators identified the suspect, 27-year-old Jaylen Fleer, as a correctional deputy with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.According to CVPD officials, Fleer surrendered to investigators on Wednesday, July 22. After being processed at CVPD headquarters, he was transported to the sheriff’s Vista Jail.Jail records obtained by ABC 10News show Fleer was booked on 15 charges, including oral copulation with a person under 16, luring a minor for a sex offense, and sending harmful material to seduce a minor.Chula Vista police noted that the sheriff’s department “cooperated and assisted with the investigation.”In a statement, the San Diego Sheriff Department said that Fleer was placed on administrative assignment when the department was made aware of the possible incident and that because of the seriousness of the allegations, his authority as a peace officer was taken away.
