Georgia has re-certified the results of the presidential election in the state, hours after state Sec. of State Brad Raffensperger confirmed that a machine recount requested by the Trump campaign upheld president-elect Joe Biden's win in the state.Raffensperger also criticized those who continue to doubt the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state, saying that the push to overturn the results was "hurting the state."Georgia has counted ballots in the presidential election three times — the initial count, a full election audit and hand recount, which was done at Raffensperger's request, and a machine recount which was held a the request of the Trump campaign. All three counts have shown Biden won the state.Raffensperger says he's been personally pressured by fellow Republicans to personally intervene and overturn the results of the election. At a Saturday political rally, Trump criticized Raffensperger publicly. There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in the state. Last week, Attorney General Bill Barr said the Justice Department had not yet found evidence of fraud that would change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. 1174

Hawaii will remain effectively closed to tourists until at least October 1.The state currently has a strict 14-day quarantine for anyone coming to the islands, tourists and returning residents alike. The quarantine stopped tourism as it states anyone arriving must remain at a home or hotel for 14 days (not a vacation rental), and cannot visit other islands or tourist locations, or rent a car. This quarantine plan started in March and was supposed to be relaxed September 1 to allow visitors to bypass the quarantine if they presented a negative COVID-19 test. However, Hawaii Gov. David Ige announced this week the quarantine plan will remain as it is at least until September 30."We will continue to monitor the conditions here in Hawaii as well as key markets on the mainland to determine the appropriate start date for the pre-travel (COVID-19) testing program," he said.As of Tuesday, Hawaii had a total of 5,349 reported COVID-19 cases and 41 deaths from the disease. 983

Getting hired for a job in today's market can be frustrating and challenging. Career experts say if you think about your soft skills and what you value you offer a company, you’ll have a leg up.As we all continue to work from home, LinkedIn career expert Blair Heitmann says jobs in the remote sector are hot.Remote jobs are in demand, Heitmann said. “I mean we are seeing an uptick of remote jobs across LinkedIn. You don’t necessarily have to be in the same city to find those opportunities as well."Because of the pandemic, many jobs aren’t available. Heitmann said applicants should try and focus on what jobs are available in a similar sector.“Try to think through how to transfer to a role that would be a stepping stone for you to get there,” Heitmann said. “It might not be your dream job out of the gate, but it would help you gain the skills you need to get towards that eventually.”Employers right now are also focused on soft skills.Teamwork, communication, problem-solving, those are all examples of soft skills, Heitmann said. If you are good at solving problems, customer service might be an area that could be good for you.For many people, going back to school or learning a trade is not an option. LinkedIn says sales associate, delivery driver, construction worker, and project manager are all jobs in sectors hiring, to name a few.The hiring website offers 12,000 courses online for job seekers to take. The bottom line, update your resume and cover letter. Have a beautiful headshot for your profile picture and enable job alerts on whatever hiring website you choose."Our data shows us that people who tend to apply early and jump on the opportunity once it’s completely posted are more likely to get the position," Heitmann said.WFTS' Michael Paluska first reported this story. 1807

Georgina Chapman, the estranged wife of Harvey Weinstein, is speaking out for the first time since her husband was accused by more than 80 women of sexual misconduct. In an interview with Vogue, Chapman maintains that she had no knowledge of the alleged sexual harassment or assaults, and didn't even realize he was unfaithful in their own marriage.Weinstein has repeatedly denied any allegations of "non-consensual sex.""That's what makes this so incredibly painful: I had what I thought was a very happy marriage. I loved my life." Chapman said. "Absolutely not [did she suspect him cheating]. Never. For one thing, he traveled constantly. And I've never been one of those people who obsesses about where someone is."Even Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, stated in her June editor's letter that she is "convinced" Chapman was unaware of Weinstein's alleged misconduct."I am firmly convinced that Georgina had no idea about her husband's behavior; blaming her for any of it, as too many have in our gladiatorial digital age, is wrong," Wintour wrote. "I believe that one should not hold a person responsible for the actions of his or her partner. What Georgina should be receiving is our compassion and understanding."Weinstein is currently under investigation for alleged sex crimes in New York, Los Angeles and London. After the news first broke in The New York Times and The New Yorker last fall, Chapman said her head was "spinning.""I lost ten pounds in five days. I couldn't keep food down," she said. "About two days [to process the news]. My head was spinning. And it was difficult because the first article was about a time long before I'd ever met him, so there was a minute where I couldn't make an informed decision. And then the stories expanded and I realized that this wasn't an isolated incident. And I knew that I needed to step away and take the kids out of here."Chapman married Weinstein in 2007 and together they have two young children. She announced in October that she was leaving Weinstein."I have moments of rage, I have moments of confusion, I have moments of disbelief!" Chapman said. "And I have moments when I just cry for my children. What are their lives going to be? What are people going to say to them? It's like, they love their dad. They love him. I just can't bear it for them!"Chapman, the co-founder of high-end fashion house, Marchesa, said she's made it a point not to attend public events or even be spotted out since October."I was so humiliated and so broken,"she said. "I didn't think it was respectful to go out. I thought, who am I to be parading around with all of this going on? It's still so very, very raw. I was walking up the stairs the other day and I stopped; it was like all the air had been punched out of my lungs."The scandal also led to her decision to cancel the Marchesa runway show in January."We didn't feel it was appropriate given the situation," Chapman added. "All the women who have been hurt deserve dignity and respect, so I want to give it the time it deserves. It's a time for mourning, really."Although she's coming to terms on the end of her marriage and planning a Weinstein-free future with her children, she wants the world to know that she's not looking for anyone to pity her."I don't want to be viewed as a victim," she said. "Because I don't think I am. I am a woman in a sh*t situation." 3382
