TEMPLE, Texas — Temple police want to know who threw a rock off a railroad overpass Saturday night, resulting in the death of a 33-year old woman in Texas.Investigators say it happened just before 9 p.m. Saturday night as Keila Ruby Flores and her family of five traveled northbound on Interstate 35 between exits 303 and 305 in Texas.Police say someone threw a rock from the overpass to the interstate below, hitting Flores' car, breaking the windshield and hitting Flores, who sat in the front passenger seat.Officers responded to an unknown injury call near the 2600 block of I-35 and Belair Drive where they found Flores and her family.Paramedics took Flores to Baylor, Scott and White Hospital, where she died of her injuries at 10:32 a.m. on Sunday. An autopsy will determine her exact cause of death.Detectives have no information on a suspect and ask anyone who may have seen anything to call Temple police, or Bell County Crime Stoppers. 959

The helicopter pilot who crashed on to the roof of a New York City building was not licensed to fly in poor weather, the Federal Aviation Administration said.The pilot, identified as Tim McCormack, died in the crash, law enforcement officials said."Pilots must have an instrument rating to fly in bad weather," an FAA spokeswoman said. "This pilot didn't have an instrument rating."An instrument rating requires about 100 or more hours of additional training on top of basic pilot training, CNN aviation analyst Mary Schiavo said.It helps pilots learn to fly without visual reference to the sky under instrument flight rules, by relying solely on instruments to "fly blind" in clouds or heavy fog under the direction of air traffic control, Schiavo said.At the time of Monday's flight, moderate to heavy rain was falling in the city, and visibility at Central Park was down to 1.25 miles. Police on the island of Kauai say Lori Vallow was arrested Thursday on a warrant issued in Madison County, Idaho.She is being held on million bail. Seven-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan haven't been seen since late September, and police in Rexburg, Idaho, have said they “strongly believe that Joshua and Tylee's lives are in danger.” Police have said Lori Vallow and her new husband Chad Daybell have lied about the children's whereabouts. The CDC announced on Thursday that cigarette smoking rates in the United States have reached recorded lows with just 13.7 percent of the adult population smoking cigarettes in 2018. The percentage of smokers is just one-third from the number of smokers from 50 years ago. The CDC said that 19.7 percent of American adults used tobacco products in 2018. Cigars are used by 3.9 percent of adults; e-cigarettes by 3.2 percent of adults; smokeless tobacco by 2.4 percent of adults; and pipes, water pipes, or hookahs by 1 percent. The CDC said nearly 18.8 percent of tobacco users use two or more products. “This marked decline in cigarette smoking is the achievement of a consistent and coordinated effort by the public health community and our many partners,” said CDC Director Robert R. The sound of plastic bins flying around on a conveyor belt is music to Javier Herran's ears. “I refer to it as a symphony of chaos,” Herran says.The well-oiled machine does all the grocery shopping for you. “It’s basically a giant vending machine,” Herran describes. Except this vending machine can hold over 100,000 items for Sedano's supermarkets’ new online ordering platform. “This is the first automated micro-fulfillment center in the world,” explains Curt Avalon with Takeoff Technology, the company that developed the robotic system. Instead of an employee walking through a store to manually gather the items in an online order, the machine does all the work. It travels through a system of conveyors and elevators, bringing the shelves to the employees. "So we can pick an item in about three seconds, where if you're shopping on the sales floor, its 60 to 90 seconds an item,” Avalon says. That efficiency is what sold Herran, who is Sedano's marketing director. "We can get an order done in 10 minutes or less versus an hour or hour and a half shopping on the sales floor," Avalon says.
