In an interview with La Nacion, Busanello said, "The cooperation agreements signed (with China) ... are a step in the right direction ... but I think what we lack is a long-term vision. China knows what it wants in the next 30 years. They tell you, you read it, they publish it. Does Argentina know what it wants in the next 30 years?"

Dlamini-Zuma said various agreements have been signed between China and the AU to promote the economic partnership. Among these agreements there is one on the development of a continental railway network which will link all of Africa's economic and political capitals.

Ussal Sahbaz said China's initiative aims to mobilize funds and know-how to modernize the vast region of Eurasia, which sill needs roads, banking systems, fiber-optic cables, adding that institutions like the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), which was also proposed by China in a bid to replenish the shortages in global funds for infrastructure construction, are crucial, and should be supported by the international community.

This is the second summit in the 15 years since the forum's inception, and the first to be held in Africa.

As the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) is slated to take place on Dec. 4-5 in South Africa, Zhang said China will work with the AU and other members of the forum to take the opportunity to enhance unity and cooperation between China and Africa.
