They don't, however, love actual cars like hatchbacks and sedans --as Ford has learned.Ford said on Wednesday the only passenger car models it plans to keep on the market in North America will be the Mustang and the upcoming Ford Focus Active, a crossover-like hatchback that's slated to debut in 2019.That means the Fiesta, Taurus, Fusion and the regular Focus will disappear in the United States and Canada.Ford will, however, continue to offer its full gamut of trucks, SUVs and crossovers.By 2020, "almost 90 percent of the Ford portfolio in North America will be trucks, utilities and commercial vehicles," the press release says. "The company is also exploring new 'white space' vehicle silhouettes that combine the best attributes of cars and utilities, such as higher ride height, space and versatility."By "white space," the company is referring to vehicles that don't fall neatly into the typical categories.Ford has hinted it might decide to retire much of its sedan portfolio. Earlier this year, James Farley, the company's president of global markets, said Ford is "shifting from cars to utilities," which have been a bigger profit driver. It also reallocated billion of research funds from cars to SUVs and trucks.And it's not just Ford. Fiat Chrysler did away with the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 more than a year ago. (KGTV) - A drone company based in Carlsbad has found a way to use their drones to help the fight against COVID-19.Charles Moss, the owner of FD1 Drone, created new software that uses artificial intelligence to track the size of crowds, as well as the distance between people. He hopes it can be used to enforce social distancing in public places."It's a tool," says Moss. "It's the ultimate tool to enhance our current abilities."The software connects a drone's camera with a computer, feeding real-time information about crowd size and social distancing. It can also detect which people are wearing masks, and which people aren't.On the computer screen, green dots show people who are property distanced. Red dots mean they're too close.Moss says it can be used at parks, beaches, schools, shopping centers, concerts or anywhere else people gather.And the software isn't confined to drones. Moss says it can be installed on street light cameras, similar to the technology the City of San Diego uses in their Internet of Things system. Like the IOT system, Moss' software does not use any facial recognition technology."In order to give people a better comfort out in public, they need insight as to their environments," he says. "The human brain can only process so much data, so much information. This will help them make better decisions."Moss says he's been in contact with a few cities and schools to deploy the technology, but concerns over cost and training has kept his software grounded.He's hopeful it will catch on soon, so it can help keep people safe during the Pandemic.But he says it also has practical applications after the Pandemic ends. Moss says his software could be used to spot wildfires, measure deterioration in coral reefs, inspect power lines and more."It's more of a tool to provide situational awareness, so we can plan," says Moss. Cathedral High School in Indianapolis announced the official name change of its entrepreneurship course to the "Chris Beaty Entrepreneurship Class."Chris Beaty was an Indianapolis business owner and former Indiana University football player who was beloved in the community.Beaty was one of two men who were shot and killed when violence erupted during police brutality demonstrations in Downtown Indianapolis. He was 38."There was so much pain caused by Chris's tragic murder, I felt it was too narrow to hear him only referred to as a former Cathedral and IU football player," Alex Purvis, who played football with Beaty at Cathedral High School in the early 2000's, said. "Chris was so much more than that, and I want to do my part to make sure his legacy continues at Cathedral."Purvis spearheaded the initiative to make the name change of the private school's entrepreneur course because he wanted to make sure Beaty was known for more than just football. Purvis says Beaty was not only an entrepreneur but says he was a friend, he was compassionate, and he always made people feel welcomed."He made everyone feel like a VIP. Few people have that ability," Purvis said.Purvis only knew Beaty for one year at Cathedral — but that was enough for Beaty to make an impact on Purvis.Purvis described himself as, "the smallest kid on the football team" his sophomore year, and Beaty was a senior star-athlete."Years later, when I started running into Chris downtown and various events, Chris always made me feel like I was the star quarterback on Cathedral's team. For no other reason than that was his genuine personality—he made people feel special. His warmth and positivity was infectious," Purvis said.Purvis said to best #LiveLikeChris, it's fitting to name Cathedral's entrepreneurship class in Beaty's honor. Beaty was always working on "the next big thing," Purvis said."I think the root of entrepreneurship is having the ability to take an idea and outlining the steps to make it happen," Purvis said. "That's exactly what Chris did. He was a doer, a leader, and a builder—his friends turned into business partners and vice versa."Both Cathedral High School and Indiana University have also created the "Chris Beaty Foundation Scholarship," in his honor."Using that foundation and exploring entrepreneurship in high school will hopefully open students' eyes to all of the possibilities they have in college and beyond. Students should know they are capable of creating their path, just like Chris Beaty did," Purvis said. "And they should know that they, too, have what it takes to live like Chris. CAMPO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Three people were taken to the hospital and two others are in custody after a Border Patrol chase led to a crash in Campo Tuesday night. According to Border Patrol, agents tried to stop a 23-year-old San Diego resident driving a blue Mazda MPV around 5:05 p.m. near Old Highway 80 and McCain Valley Road for possible immigration-related violations. The driver refused to stop, sparking the chase. During the chase, agents say the woman drove onto Shasta Way at a “high rate of speed” before driving over a dip and losing control of the vehicle. RELATED: Two dead after car, semi-truck collide in Otay MesaThe woman then crashed into a steel fence and hit a utility pole, causing the car to flip over, agents say. According to border patrol, the 23-year-old had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. Border Patrol says four men were found in the back of the vehicle. The men are between the ages of 24 and 39 and all claim to be residents of Mexico. Two of the men were taken to the hospital for treatment while the other two were taken into custody after refusing medical aid, Border Patrol says. 1139

(KGTV) — Twenty-eight local Marine and Navy veterans of World War II were honored during a sunset ceremony Saturday.Camp Pendleton honored the veterans with a 21-gun salute, bell tolling, and wreath laying ceremony as part of the 75th commemoration of the Battle of Iwo Jima.This annual event is one of the largest Iwo Jima reunions in the U.S. as the number of surviving World War II veterans begins to dwindle."It's just amazingly remarkable marines who've truly established the legacy of the marine corps on whose shoulders we stand as we continue to protect the freedoms of the nation," Lt. Gen. Joseph Osterman, commanding general of the First Marine Expeditionary Force, said.Tens of thousands of U.S. troops fought Japanese soldiers during the island invasion from Feb. 19, 1945 to March 26, 1945.
