POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) - Poway residents gathered Monday night to rally against an anti-Semitic hate crime during Hanukkah. Someone painted a swastika on the side of a Jewish family’s home and poured some type of chemical on their car Sunday night. Shawn Seibert lives in the house with his mother. He says he heard noises around 11:20 p.m. and went outside, only to see two people away. That’s when he noticed the swastika on the side of their house and the damage to his car. Sunday night was the start of Hanukkah.“When you see it, it just shakes you down to your core,” Seibert said. “How can someone do something like that to someone they don’t know?” The community came together Monday to show their support for the Seiberts. Several dozen people gathered at the corner of Poway and Community Roads with signs preaching against hate, as drivers honked their horns in support of the rally. The Seiberts were able to remove the swastika Monday morning. 963

President Donald Trump is at the Pérez Art Museum in Miami on Thursday night for a town hall moderated by Today host Savannah Guthrie as he took questions from voters as part of a town hall.CoronavirusTrump was evasive with Guthrie about whether or not he took a COVID-19 test on the day of his debate against Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.Guthrie asked Trump when his last test was; he told her he tests quite a bit. Guthrie then asked if he tested the day of the debate, and Trump said he probably did.Trump did inform Guthrie that he has no remaining symptoms of the virus. He did add that his doctors told him that his lungs were "a little bit infected" when he was hospitalized.Trump also claimed that the CDC found that "85% of the people that wear masks catch it." Guthrie responded that she knew of that study, and that's not what it says. Trump responded that is what he heard. The CDC study that Trump referred to didn't even state a percentage of who doesn't wear masks. Trump also added the US is "expected to lose 2,200,000 people and maybe more than that" from coronavirus. Trump was likely referring to this report from March by scholars that predicted that a total of 2.2 million Americans could die from COVID-19 if no preventative measures were placed.White SupremacyTrump denounced white supremacy during a town hall on Thursday while on NBC."I denounced white supremacy. I denounced White supremacy for years, but you always start with the question, you didn't ask Joe Biden whether or not he denounces Antifa," Trump said. "I denounced white supremacy. I denounce Antifa, and I denounce these people on the left that are burning down our cities, that are run by Democrats."QAnonDuring his town hall on NBC, Trump refused to denounce the QAnon conspiracy theory, telling Guthrie that he knows "nothing about QAnon."The conspiracy Guthrie referred to during Thursday's town hall was that the Democrats run a satanic pedophile ring, and Trump is its savior. Guthrie then asked Trump if he could state that it was not valid.Trump said that all he knew about the conspiracy theory is that "they are very much against pedophilia" and agree with that.Guthrie also asked Trump about a tweet he recently retweeted about the conspiracy that former president Barack Obama and Biden "had SEAL Team 6 killed" and that Osama bin Laden's death was a hoax."I know nothing about it," Trump said. "That was a retweet — that was an opinion of somebody. And that was a retweet. I'll put it out there. People can decide for themselves." "I don't get that," Guthrie responded. "You're the President. You're not like someone's crazy uncle who can retweet whatever."TaxesDuring his hour-long town hall, Trump confirmed that he might owe 0 million personally but did not state to whom he owes the debt. He added that he didn't owe any money to Russia or to "sinister people."" 0 million is a peanut," Trump said during his town hall.Trump added that he is currently being audited and that the IRS mistreats him.""I'm treated very badly by the IRS," Trump said. "They treat me very, very badly. You have people in there from previous administrations. They treat me very badly. But we're under audit. It's very routine in many ways. But we're under audit. They like to change the game, change the rules, do everything." 3338

President Donald Trump said he is "not familiar" with the Harvey Weinstein case when asked for his reaction to the former Hollywood producer being charged with rape and sex abuse Friday.Trump told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House that he didn't "know anything about it," but added, "It's really too bad. Really too bad."In October, when the flood of accusations from dozens of women began to come out against Weinstein, Trump told reporters at the time: "I've known Harvey Weinstein for a long time, I'm not at all surprised to see it."Weinstein turned himself in to authorities Friday morning and was arrested and processed on charges of rape, committing a criminal sex act, sexual abuse and sexual misconduct, according to the New York Police Department. The charges stem from incidents with two separate women, the NYPD said in a statement, and were the result of a joint investigation between police and the Manhattan district attorney's office.Weinstein is also under investigation for alleged sex crimes in Los Angeles and London. Federal prosecutors in New York have started a sex crimes investigation involving him, according to The Wall Street Journal. The charges follow a flood of accusations against Weinstein that led women around the world to come forward with accounts of being sexually harassed by powerful men. His accusers welcomed the news as a sign that the tables were finally turning -- not only on him but on other accused predators.During the election, at least 15 women made allegations against Trump ranging from sexual harassment and sexual assault to lewd behavior around women. They came forward in the wake of a 2005 "Access Hollywood" tape of Trump released in October 2016 that caught him saying on a hot mic: "And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything ... Grab them by the p****. You can do anything."But the White House -- through press secretary Sarah Sanders and others -- has dismissed all the allegations against him as old news that had been litigated during the 2016 campaign.The-CNN-Wire 2070

President Donald Trump plans to announce his Supreme Court nominee on Saturday. He has said it will be a woman and she will be conservative. If the nominee goes through, it would give conservative justices a 6-3 majority over their more liberal counterparts. That sets up talk about abortion, but the Roe v. Wade debate isn't all about the Supreme Court.“Enough lower courts have not decided what they think about this,” said Carol Sanger, a professor at the Columbia law school. “We, the Supreme Court, doesn't like to lead on a particular issue until the lower courts who have trials and so on have thought about it.”Under a conservative majority, the Supreme Court has ruled on an abortion case. Conservative Chief Justice John Roberts sided with a ruling that kept abortion clinics open by not requiring abortion doctors to have nearby hospital admitting privileges. The high court already ruled on a similar case out of Texas.“There is a special doctrine called stare decisis, which means when you have a case and it’s like a previous case, look to that previous case and say how did that come out,” said Sanger. “And unless there is a very, very strong reason to change that decision, you follow precedent, you follow what happened the last time this issue came up.”Sanger says enough lower courts have to rule and be split on the decision to make it to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court would need to decide it wants to take up Roe v. Wade before courts before them. Sanger believes that's unlikely to happen.“It seems pretty clear that he doesn't want to be known as the guy who had Roe knocked out under his chief justice-ship,” said Sanger. Both Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch said they accepted Roe v. Wade as the law of the land during their nomination hearings.Sanger says just because the justices on the court change, it doesn't mean they change laws all over again. 1887

President Donald Trump danced around a question from moderator Chris Wallace about whether he was willing to condemn white supremacists and military groups.“I would say almost everything I see is from the left wing, not the right wing,” Trump responded. “I’m willing to do anything. I want to see peace.”When pressed further, Trump said, “What do you want to call them? Give me a name. Give me a name?”Finally, he said, “Proud Boys — Stand back, stand by, but I’ll tell you what, somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left because this is not right-wing problem..... This is a left wing problem."Antifa followers have appeared at anti-racism protests, but there’s been little evidence behind Republican claims that antifa members are to blame for the violence at such protests.Trump infamously said there were good people “on both sides” after a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that led to the death of a counterprotester. 966
