SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person was shot Sunday outside of a College Area smoke shop, according to police.It wasn't immediately clear what led to the shooting, but San Diego Police confirmed that a 20-year-old man had been shot just before 5:30 p.m. in the 5900 block of El Cajon Blvd., outside of Aztec Smoke & Vape Shop.The victim was hit in the leg and chest and taken to a nearby hospital, but their condition was not clear.The area was closed by police for the investigation.10News is monitoring this breaking news. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person died and two others were injured, and Coast Guard crews rescued 17 others after a mega yacht collided with a fishing vessel off the coast of Imperial Beach Friday night. The 332-foot yacht, Attessa IV, crashed into the 65-foot sportfisher vessel, Prowler, just before 8 p.m. about nine miles off the shore of Imperial Beach, according to the Coast Guard.The collision caused extensive damage to the right side of the Prowler.One man was airlifted to UCSD Hillcrest and died at the hospital, the Coast Guard confirmed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - National Voter Registration Day is a reminder to sign up to vote in the next election, a deadline many Americans miss. Voters must be registered at least 15 days before an election. If they fail to meet this requirement, they can conditionally register and vote provisionally, according to the San Diego Registrar of Voters. Voting materials, including sample ballots, are mailed starting 29 days before an election. If you changed your name, moved, or want to switch political parties, you must re-register to vote with a new application. In order to register to vote in California, you must be a U.S. citizen, a state resident, at least 18 years old before the next election, not in prison or on parole for a felony, and not declared mentally incompetent by the court. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- New data shows that home sales in Southern California could be dipping, while sales in San Diego County are on the rise. The data from CoreLogic shows that the sale of existing housing sold in Southern California in April of 2018 was down nearly four percent since March of 2018.In San Diego County, however, home sales increased by more than five percent in April. Likewise, year-over-year home sales across the county increased by more than two percent. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Nine drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol during a downtown San Diego checkpoint Friday night.The checkpoint was set up on the 1400 block of G Street between 11 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday.Throughout the course of the night, police checked more than 1,100 vehicles. Nine people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Another individual was arrested on other criminal charges, police said.“A major component of these checkpoints are the deterrent effects it has on those who might drive drunk or drugged impaired, bringing about more awareness and encouraging everyone to use sober designated drivers,” police said in a news release. 711
